4BBB Qualifying Scores

Can you send us the official definition of "competition" please?
I don't think that the specific word 'competition' is defined either in the Rules of Golf, or the Rules of Handicapping, but I am prepared to be corrected.

My club requires 8 Acceptable Scores including at least 3 Competition scores to be eligible to enter certain events (Honours Board - no idea why we still have Honours Boards for handicap competitions but that's another debate). However we have two weekly singles Stablefords that can be entered by anyone on the day. Everyone pays their £3 and everyone is able to win a monetary prize. It seems a sensible way of keeping folks satisfied. I was going to put 'happy', but hardly anyone is happy!

No, they are telling everyone with access to the WHS portal that players are having cards marked under competition conditions, by someone who themselves is playing under competition conditions, rather than during a friendly round with mates, where a blind eye is very often turned to the rules, and putts from less than a foot are given. Or worse still, by someone who has played on their own and has submitted a card to the portal having had it verified by a mate who wasn’t even there.

If you genuinely don’t think that sort of skullduggery goes on then, with the greatest respect, you’re a little naive.
Who is under a false impression, if all understand and agree with the club policy?
Other clubs, who are considering entry requirments for their opens. It also skews the GP v Comp report for the club, making it more difficult to identify those abusing the system.

How is it skewed?
The player has submitted a competition score along with all others who submitted a competition score on the day, because he entered the competition on a fully understood and accepted by the club and the player no-entry-fee and no-prize basis.

Because I don't except your premise that playing alongside people playing in a comp means you are also playing in a competition.

As 'Competition' is not defined in the RoG or RoH it would seem that the organisation running/organising/managing the event makes the decision as to the status of players in the event.

He is playing in the comp. On a no entry fee and no prize basis. Both the player and the club accept it. You and I are irrelevant. We are merely observers.
