Rory walks off the course

His swing is very quick over the hips, he relies on his hands to pull the face square this needs good timming
and as a natural swing free of thoughts is is used to have he never got trapped inside, but once things go in his head
its difficult to make it work. Nike and his manager did not handle this well, timing in business is also crucial, this
is a 23yo boy not a machine
.

This is a professional sportsman showing a very unprofessional flaw in his character, having a bad day? tough, suck it up; don't flounce off the course like diva or 9 year old boy.

Very poor form. Unless you're injured then you stay on the course and finish your round. He needs to explain his actions quickly and apologise if necessary.

Just reading on the PGA Tour website, and I thought one of the comments from the public was interesting.

My opinion is his body can't swing it like he did last year because of the insane amount of Gym work he has put in (trying to be a perfect Nike athlete). It takes time after body changes for your swing to adapt.

I don't know if it's true or not but possible?

Epic aftertiming, but I don't think his swing looks as good this year as the last few years, although I can't put my finger on why.

Denis Pugh on Twitter: Lot of honesty in "Rory's Camp" #noBS >>>> Rorys agent: "He's not hurt. He's not sick. And he won't answer his phone. I don't know."

I think that despite being the No.1 golfer, he's still in the shadow of Tiger at Nike. Like F1 teams with 2 big name drivers, both want to be top dog and in the case of Nike, that's Tiger.

At Titleist, he was never under the scrutiny he is now and he clearly can't handle it right now. I think the move to Nike has been made for the wrong reasons, and has come about too soon for him.

Interesting comment but surely not the issue, this would be spotted either by him or his coach(es).

The quote in your signature is closer to the truth IMO.

Titleist are coming out of this quite well. No outlay and still basking in reflected glory from Rory being a better player with their equipment (even if its not true).

WOW, pretty shocked he would do something like this.

I've had some shocking rounds in competition but NEVER walked off. Thought about it, but never did it.

It's obviously getting to him.

When I watched him in his first round this year his swing just looked off. Seemed very jerky and tempo seemed out.

It could well be the clubs, not that the clubs are bad, it's a confidence thing. We all know what happens once you start loosing confidence in a club, you can't quite commit to the swing and start second guessing the results.

he clearly can't handle it right now:D... I mean World nº1, 500000000000 Nike deal......that swing! some thing is wrong here.

To be honest who cares, it doesn't matter if he 's playing Nike , Titliest or Donnay he's a spoilt wee boy who when no playing well spits his dummy out, he did it 2010 when the Open was at St Andrews a bit windy and he didn't want to be there.

Sore loser, no respect for people at his level that act like this, he is paid a furtune and should act like a professional

Nike should dump him and he should be fined and banned for the next 3 comps for walking off

Never really liked him but like him even less now, complete t*sser

Who would swap places with the Nike Exec who brokered the deal and talked the board into spending hundreds of millions on him? they say all publicity is good publicity... i think "they" talk rubbish!! this can not be good for Nike golf.

As most on here know, it most likely is not the clubs, i am not comparing myself to a major winner, but last year i started playing really well and thought i was much better than i was, the golfing gods bit me in the rear and i played terrible golf for months!! golf is 90% mental, he needs to get back to basics, not ponce around with Bose headphones on.. look at Lewis Hamilton, he said most of his time was doing PR stuff, not great preparation for a GP or golf tournament is it...

Can you imagine the meeting on Monday morning though at Nike HQ?? Gulp!

strange decision, but we have all been there ! ... role models ? unfortunately Tiger & Rory are far from that given their petulant behaviour through the years. I hope he apologises, but probably wont. I wouldnt blame the equipment, but seems he is struggling with it, for a man that hardly needed the money was a strange decision to switch from Titleist.

No matter how bad it is, you should not walk off mid round. We have all had terrible rounds where no matter what you do it just won't work but you still finish your round. Rather have the p@@s taken out of me for a bad round than get grief off the captain /president for walking off
Rory is bang out of order and as world number 1 it is very unprofessional

Its ok to get a better deal, it´s not ok to make such a big deal over your knee, I mean this should take place with much care
is was n1 23yo and all this bad deals with oakley did not let him go, everybody knew what was going on, the comments
over money/equipment changes, he was stuck in the middle...what a manager well done!

I've got this image of the PR Guru's at Nike sitting round the table trying to work out how to spin this one.

Good luck with that
