'Ready Golf' ........... Nah not for me, I prefer the traditions of golf, the way it's supposed to be played, the etiquette of the game we play and to the rules of the game that is set out.

The game of golf includes etiquette in regards slow play and pace of play and the rules include the pace of play - ready golf helps keep that pace of play up.

I've played where we have kept up with the group in front and still had players honours adhered to, and furthest away plays first adhered to! So even the traditional way can keep up?

For those who keep order, what about situations where someone plays from the bunker when others are on the green, hits long and so is next to play. Would you wait for them to rake it (or offer), put their bag in the right place and then go to putt, or do you putt in the meantime?

I always tend to putt to save the other person rushing but you then wonder if you're offending people. Ready golf all the way for me.

And i have seen it when lots of groups keep to the traditional ways and used the honoured and are 3 holes behind.

And the magic phrase is "common sense"

Which should be regarded as a SuperPower these days....

The only problem I can see is that you will have to educate players to take their shots when they're ready but not when someone else is playing....educate and get everyone to buy into it

Why not just educate them to do things " properly " in the first place.....?

I dont think i have come across many golfers who will play at the same time as others - most appear to have a quick check to be sure then away they go. Its such a simple process playing the golf shot. Play when you are ready as long as its both safe and practical to do so.

I believe the 'off-the-Tee' honour should go to the winner of the previous hole but the rest of the players should play when ready. Then play should continue on the 'as ready' basis.

This way the 'last hole winner' enjoys (or suffers the tension of) Teeing off without the position of another players ball influencing his shot.

Keep to honor on the tee, on the green when it can be done with no hold up. Go when ready on the fair way just check no one is hitting at the same time. There are many more ways to speed up. I have no wish to be rushed on the course. I've paid enough to play.

If your one of the ones who want to play quickly because you have an appointment or somewhere to be. Don't play that day.

We tend to play ready golf in roll ups but I wouldn't want to do it in a comp. If I was getting ready to play and someone then decided to play.. just to speed it up, I wouldn't be impressed. A slow player will be slow whatever and unless the club does something like impose penalties (unlikely if the PGA won't) and most are impervious to the fact

Again using communication and common sense between the players should mean that wont happen

There is no reason for ready golf, when you all leave the green and approach the tee you should all be ready to play. Therefore no reason not to go with the correct order, likewise playing you second, the first person to play should be the first ball you reach so again no reason to play out of order.

If you are not ready to play as you approach your ball, that is something that should be addressed as we all know this is the main cause of slow play.

you do all realise that ready golf isnt some kind of panacea and that even if we all played that way nothing would really change. Rounds would still be slow, golfers wont call faster groups through...etc etc
