Random Irritations

For as long as I can remember, Tesco Paracetamol boxes have had a white end and a blue end...the leaflet you always get in every box is always, always at the blue end...open the white end and you can get them out without having to fight with a piece of paper that nobody reads...
Except, recently, there's been a batch that have reversed this.....and doing my head in 😫😫😫

It used to be sort of fun to try and spot the April Fool stories in the media and socials. Now there are so many completely invented quotes and bogus AI-written clickbait nonsense that we get to play that game all year round.
Our course sent out an email this morning to say that they were turning the putting green into a swimming pool, put loads of sun loungers on the patio and even announced a branded range of swimwear (including a pair of budgie smugglers), which I thought was quite amusing (it even included a picture as to what it would look like & the course view from the pool)

Now that is random!

Just bought a takeaway for 4 of us.
It was decided we would have burger and chips (not my choice but outvoted).

My son ordered and we ended up with fancy named burgers and chips.

The cost was £82.00.
Maybe I’m living in the past but that seemed mental to me.

It was very nice but it was burger and chips, no drinks or extras.

And......... breathe in, breathe out.
And...........relax.
With me.......Ommm.

Gonna be honest though it’s a little pricey for a takeaway it’s probably about right. Essentially £20 for a burger and chips each from what I’m assuming wasn’t a kebab shop but probably a local deliveroo/just eat is pretty much spot on down south including delivery charge.

Last week I bought 2 meat and chips plus a burger and chips, that was £45 and I collected it. If my daughter had wanted food as well and I selected delivery it was gonna be £70 all in. So yeah it’s expensive down our end bud, it’s bloody annoying as the same food if I order it to work is half the price.

Smashburger which is a decent burger or a Byron is around £10 then chips around £5

£20 seems very excessive
No complaint about the quality and it did taste very good.
I was just a bit surprised by the cost.
We don’t often get a takeaway/delivery.
We would prefer to either eat out or cook ourselves.

How much do they charge to deliver from your work? 🤣

Well if I got it delivered from work in Stafford to Hampshire it might be a fair whack for delivery 😂

Our main issue at home is lack of choice for takeaway delivery. We don’t have the high street chains available with the exception of a dominos that covers our area which insoles as my sons weird and doesn’t eat pizza 😒. So if we get a takeaway it has to be just eat which is more like pub food or higher end takeaways so they charge a premium. Don’t know if that’s the same for you, but when I’m at work in the week a takeway Option wise is vast including all the usual suspects so it’s cheaper due to volume.

I do wonder if maybe I’m out of touch and that’s what you would expect to pay.

The Whooper at Burger King is £11.99. Add a few bits to that and you’re close on £15 a pop. Mad!

I’m paying €8.50 for, probably, the best burger in town, and €3.80 for a pint of Stella to wash it down. That’s around £10 all in.

Come to my local in our village mate. I’ll treat you to a nice pint you can get 1 for for the price of your burger and Stella 😂

A pint of Guinness last time I bought one in my local was £8.90 and that was 2 years ago, So good knows what it cost now. No idea about lager I don’t drink the stuff but I can’t imagine it’s much cheaper.

I remember being in a chippy with my grandfather who exclaimed, "25p for chips? That's 5 shillings, when I was your age you couldn't carry 5 shillings worth of chips!"

I have had several similar feelings recently!😁🤪

The price of fish & chips in the U.K. and here regularly shocks me.

I can remember standing in the chippy in a very poor part of Middlesbrough. A tanner, 6d, for chips and a shilling for fish. Queues out of the door Friday tea time. I very much doubt that families in the poor areas can cough up over £30 for a Friday tea.

We have lots of options from all the chains to independent (my preference) as we are close to Pompey.

We would normally walk up to the nearest whatever we fancy and eat in.

I wouldn’t normally choose burger and chips so wasn’t sure if the price seemed reasonable or expensive to others.
