I couldn’t careless what people wear but grown men in football shirts in public is equally as Cringey!

I have this seasons shirts Reading shirts but only because how they’ve been designed and they’re more. a collectors item and if they ever get worn it’s only at home with a pair of shorts for sitting and lounging around in. I certainly don’t wear them out of the house to announce to others who I support. I don’t even wear them at matches.

This is were this Patriotic/Nationalism debate gets daft, imo, the wearing of Football shirts! Golf Clubs with logo’s, certain brand of Car!

Not everything is related to the brand or badge and needs to be taken to such levels as some sort of hidden meaning!

Fly a flag, don’t fly a flag, wear a poppy, don’t wear a poppy, just please don’t insist of telling me why you follow a particular road! I’m not interested! I know what matters to me and how I’ll think of you, regardless of your reasons.

This is exactly how I see it. It’s personal to me and it doesn’t needed to be announced for external validation

The football shirt thing is red herring mate! It’s your money, your club and you can do what you like.

Wear how and what you want when you want, as you said above you don’t need validation from anyone or to justify yourself.

Agree with the shirt wearers, it’s a bit naff unless you’re going to the match or the pub to watch the game, seeing people walk around the metro centre in Toon tops makes me giggle a bit

We’ve a Geordie lad at work he wears Toon tops everywhere all varieties of it I think it’s the only clothing he owns other than issued rig! I’m sure it’s so we know where he’s from as his broad Geordie accent clearly doesn’t give it away. His nickname is Mackam

It's an absolute uniform up here. People wear the shirt as a regular item of clothing, it's irrelevant to them if there is a match on or not. Even more so at the airport, so many go on holiday in their Toon shirt. Newcastle must be one of the biggest shirt sellers in the UK, not adding in overseas sales which is where the others will stretch away.
