Random Irritations

Whether it was the right decision or not it's not worth giving it another moments' thought because you can't undo said decision.
It's done, forget about it and caryy on.

Exactly. If we're allowed hindsight then I used every penny I had, and borrowed up to the hilt too in the 1990s, but put it all into Apple shares, and am now a billionaire :D

Just heard that a neighbour on our street passed away from cancer on Friday. He's been battling it for a couple of years and chatting to him a couple of weeks ago, he wasn't even expected to make Christmas 2024. He played as much golf as he could last year and leaves behind a wife and two teenage daughters. He was only in his late forties.

Vienna actually sold more over all than Shaddap You Face.
Vienna was a big number two - you could say.

1981 was not a particularly great year as far as the singles chart went. Here are the biggest selling singles of that year. Quite a few are best forgotten.

That looks like the playlist at Lord Ts birthday party 🤣

It is an odd situation to be in, when I retired in 2015 at 52 1/2 I had to sit down and work out what my private pension and redundancy would per week and that it had to last me 15 years before state pension. Then couple in Missis Ts pension etc etc.
Not gonna lie and say I had a few headaches.
As I have mentioned before pension wise it has got better with some of our pension money being returned.
52?!!!! Some good financial planning there Tashy 👏🏾

Not sure if it’s an irritation but due to the weather and lack of golf coupled with nothing much of interest on TV, I have never watched so much (to be honest any really) curling in my life. It seems as if the GB pair have been on the box non stop for the last week.

Come on Bruce and Jen!

Me too, that Italian lass was stunning! I could listen to her shout “Hard” in Italian all day! 😍

Honestly I would love to say I had a master plan. But it couldn’t be further from the truth. 36 years in mining helped towards an half decent pension. I say half decent because mine compared to a lot of lads that were big earners are on excellent pensions.
I was very fortunate because a couple of my pensions ( when the industry was privatised) went into the pension protection fund/ PPF. Because of this I lost 10% of my pensions every week but the lump sum we were allowed to drag went from£9 per pound given for a lump sum to £30. So it helped to get an half decent pot behind us.
Another factor was this current government. In its manifesto they promised to give a few billion back to miners which it has done. Unfortunately 10’s of thousands of miners have died before that money was returned. Apparently there’s another Billion or so the trustees are after getting back.
I am currently dragging 5 or 6 pensions, all have little bits and bobs which add up. Chuck in a couple of grand for solar feed it tariff and it adds up.
If I was to give any advice. Get your mortgage paid off before retirement, loans, any expensive jobs around the house. Try to retire with just utility bills. Financially it’s a massive weight off your shoulders.
After that, worry about filling your time.
