I retire at the end of the week.
Today is my last proper shift in the office.
I've spent the last few weeks getting so far ahead with my workload and handovers that I've got nothing to do. I was so bored this afternoon that I spent an hour sitting on my own in a cafe drinking coffee and eating apple pie.
When I got back I got so sick of my colleagues moaning about our defective office phone line and having to call tech support that I took over and fixed it myself.
Two minutes later it rang for the first time in ages. It was somebody for me with an unexpected and urgent task.
So I'm finishing late.
Is it just me that always seems to get kicked in the nuts by karma?
