Random Irritations

I retire at the end of the week.
Today is my last proper shift in the office.
I've spent the last few weeks getting so far ahead with my workload and handovers that I've got nothing to do. I was so bored this afternoon that I spent an hour sitting on my own in a cafe drinking coffee and eating apple pie.
When I got back I got so sick of my colleagues moaning about our defective office phone line and having to call tech support that I took over and fixed it myself.
Two minutes later it rang for the first time in ages. It was somebody for me with an unexpected and urgent task.
So I'm finishing late.
Is it just me that always seems to get kicked in the nuts by karma?

I did chuckle to myself, is it Karma if you wished it on yourself?
This time next week you will be sitting in a cafe drinking coffee and eating apple pie thinking this is the life.

4 days to go. It won't start to feel weird until after the New Year. Everyone is back and work and you're wondering what day of the week it is.🤣🤣

Then doing whatever you like!

Yeah that’s the best bit.
You spend the first 6 months working out when your nearest Costa is quietest 😂

My wife has got off her sick bed and decided it’s time to wrap presents.
I suggested when we bought them that we put a sticker on of a different colour for each person.
I was told don’t be stupid.
I’m now sitting in a living room full of presents with no idea who each present is for and the wife has decided she actually does not feel well enough to wrap and gone back to bed.
I have no idea what to do now, if I wrap the presents with no label I’m in trouble, if I wrap them and label them and get them wrong I’m in trouble, if I just leave them in the living room I’m in trouble.
Any advice from the forum greatly appreciated
Damned if you do and damned if you don’t.
However if you open yours now it saves her a lot of wrapping. 👍

Mine are in a unit in the spare room. Must be years since I played one, everything is streamed. Missus wants me to get rid of them, but I am resisting.

Got loads of vinyl in the loft. No idea why I'm holding on to that as I haven't had a turntable for at least 20 years!
In 2019 years I digitised all my vinyl using a record player to USB deck.

Started to sell the records with about 30% of them going via ebay and then along came covid and I stopped. Sold a few to a dealer this year.

One of the niceties was I had a HiFi quality record deck and sold that via ebay for good money and then sold the USB deck the same way.

I have digitised a lot of the CDs, just not got round to the ones that are only played occasionally

One of the lads I sometimes have a drink with on Thursday nights. We were talking one night and happened to mentioned that one Sunday morning he was bored so he cleared out the loft and threw all his LPs, vinyls the lot into the council tip. He said he still has nightmares now. He was into heavy music. One of the laps is going for £300. But he said it’s not the value that beats him up.
Young Bradley Tash has started getting into vinyl, just sits there singing along with the songs from reading the words on the inner sleeve. 😄

Pour yourself a large stiff drink and
just accept the fact you're in trouble.

After moving to this house 29 years ago, with my hifi equipment stored in my garage in original packing, with the polystyrene packing, last year I said to my wife "That stuff will stay there 'til I die".
A few days later I took it to a hifi specialist and had it all serviced.
The staff were mesmerised by the fact it was in original packing with receipts inside and one of the technicians came down to see me and reckoned he probably helped to construct the deck and amp in a workshop in Chew Magna in the 80's.
It's now in operation in an upstairs bedroom with my vinyl collection.
Underused, but not boxed and hidden in a dark, damp garage.

Nytech?
Nice little amps. I once had a CTA252 (?). No idea what happened to it.

3:40am, and for the second consecutive night the arthritis has kept me awake. I got 1.5 hours sleep last night, going over around 4:30am till 6:00am. No sleep through the day. Tonight seems to be going the same way…

I ended up between last night and this morning wrapping over 100 presents,
I have also labelled them but given them a number rather than a name and in a book wrote what each present is alongside the corresponding number.

Now just got to write who it’s for on the label.

I’m sitting here this morning with a mix of feeling smug and wondering what’s the thing I’ve missed that’s going to mean I’ll have to unwrap and re wrap them all

while out walking the dogs last night, heard a loud noise some littler herber riding an ebike at about 60 down lane, its a 20 zone. wearing black no light. didnt stop at the junction then went the wrong way up a one way street at full pelt.

these people are morons

Did you take the price tags off?

Rega Planar deck from a workshop in Chew Magna. Sorry, the NAD amp obviously wasn't but the Hifi shop had a NAD expert who was delighted by it _ early 80's.
Pre service I was told that if the hydraulics had gone in the RP I'd be better off buying a new model.
I said that would not be an option. It'd be a repair.
Luckily, all turned out well.
