Random Irritations

The plural of hole-in-one.
It's hole-in-ones, not holes-in-one.
Multiple holes-in-one means multiple holes in just one shot ............................ not possible in my world.
Multiple hole-in-ones means multiple hole-in-ones, it's just that simple, surely?
I think you'll find it's holes-in-oneses.

My daughter has arranged her baby’s gender reveal dinner for 16.00 tomorrow.
(Don’t even get me started on gender reveal rubbish).
Had someone just message me to say they won’t be able to work tomorrow so I either have to find someone to cover or muggins here has to do it.

Aww, I do hope you can make a point of being there. It's how they've chosen to announce Grandson or Granddaughter and either one is going to win your heart. A major life milestone for you (though I do get your view on the "reveal" aspect).
Coincidentally, I laughed aloud at an episode of Modern Family this week where the result of a scan was announced with "Good news, the baby has a fifth limb!" 😄
Be there. Your wife and daughter will appreciate you more than your employer?

Unfortunately I’m my own employer. 😂
I think someone is going to cover for me for a few hours so fingers crossed it will work out.

One spoonful.

Another spoonful.

Two spoonsful or two spoonfuls?
Well, that is one word, you can’t pluralise by putting an s in the middle of a word can you?

Actually, both are right but the latter is rarely used.

Shamelessly stolen from AI

A spoonful is the amount of something that can be held in a single spoon, and it is often used as a measurement. It's a small quantity, such as "a spoonful of sugar" or "a spoonful of medicine". The plural can be "spoonfuls" or, less commonly, "spoonsful".

Other way round.
I've been aware of the spoonsful/spoonfuls issue for decades.
AI has shamefully stolen it. I wasn't aware it had done so. Thanks for letting me know.
