Random Irritations

Other channels can be uncriticised as "you are able to vote with your feet" ie not pay.

Anyway, on less controversial ground. Pizza. It's a right con, isnt it! 🤣
Go wash your mouth out you heathen it’s the food of the gods. It contains all the major food groups, protein, fats and carbs in one tasty mouthful. 🤣

So why criticise the BBC - just vote with your feet and watch something else.

Pizza is an open sandwich (apart from calzone). Some are quite tasty.

I’m not leaving them uncriticised. The topic being discussed is the BBC and is value I’m pointing out why I don’t see the value in it despite all the cries of its amazing, it’s excellent a national service 🤮

I will openly criticise any biased reporting. I choose very carefully what news I view to ensure sure I take a balanced view of all news. I am happy to pay for Sky as I watch all the sport and that’s VFM. Their news channel though wouldn’t watch it if you paid me!

There never used to be be subscription tv is a poor argument and I cannot believe anyone’s life will be poorer for opting out of BBC funding other than maybe the head of the BBC and his annual bonus. There is plenty of free to air TV to watch of better quality and they may just save a few quid !

I’ve never heard a single person complain TV quality is poorer because of subscription services reducing the quality of the BBC. The quality of BBC is down to them alone nothing to do with other services being better and willing to improve. I was done with this topic but posts of people constantly beating the national treasure, it’s a life saver for millions is just absolute drivel.

But that’s it I literally done with this topic and won’t comment further regardless what guff is posted about it now because this thread is so far off what it’s meant to be it’s boring. Bit like the BBC actually 🤔
Superb rant. Well done.

I've heard many say that TV is poorer because of the rise of subscription telly. That is because they have never paid anything more than the licence fee.
Maybe you don't know as many elderly or poor people as I do.

And they are not wrong. They don't get to see as much good stuff as they used to.
Remember - this is from their viewpoint - not yours or mine.

When it comes to what is deemed as “quality” will always be down to personal opinion

Growing up for most of us we had 4 then 5 channels and the programs were decent for that period of time

What subscription telly did do was allow a lot more sport to be broadcast - you had to pay for it but you could watch a heck of a lot more

When it comes to drama programs I think BBC do some brilliant programs

US imports on Sky are brilliant , all the other terrestrial channels have some very good dramas as well - not so sure on skys offerings

We now have a lot of choice across all spectrums and depending on how much money you want to spend

But for the main subscriptions you are prob looking at close to £200 a month if you want the lot

Odd folk are talking about BBC. Both my kids, none of them watch any BBC. They say point blank the TV licence is a waste of money. Another odd thing, young uns would sooner watch YouTube and other online channels. Bottom line terrestrial tv is dying on its backside. If BBC, ITV is rammel watch a kid watch the rubbish on YouTube. It’s even more rammeler. If that’s a word.

Always like to finish on a positive. Pizza, oh my world.
Thin and crispy. Please. Always, Formaghio, Cipola, Funghi, anche prosciutto. Sweet lord best Ave ever had was in Como, back street pizzeria.

Hopefully the Beeb gets them through the long winter 🙏

The absolute shower that my workplace has become, I had hoped I could last another 18 months to get my 20 year bonus, but I’ve had to spend time updating the CV today.

Just because I might not watch us much BBC TV these days as once I did that’s a bit besides the point for me as I listen to a heck of a lot more radio live and on BBC Sounds than I did in the past. And though I don’t need a licence to listen, my licence helps pay for my listening pleasure, and I am sure a great many less well off and elderly take much pleasure from listening to BBC programmes.

Spectacular value for money, and a perfect manifestation of our much touted British values - selflessness and caring for others as we care for ourselves.
