Random Irritations

Pathological Demand Avoidance - a new term for naughty kids. Or if I was being a bit more caring, a behaviour pattern which 'experts' say causes children to become anxious when asked to do things like say please and thank you or to tidy their rooms.
This has come into the news as Harry Judd's (from Mcfly) wife has claimed one of her children has it. Does every kid now get some kind of label?

Old people get labels too. Reactionary, fossil, dinosaur, etc
No need to feel left out.

There does seem to be a large part of society now that needs to have kids and people labelled. It happens everywhere, my kids school are awful for it we had “online parents evening” middle of September!

My youngest only started secondary school this year and she’s quite a shy kid when you first meet her, then once you know her you can’t shut her up 🤣

Her teacher asked us “have we had her tested for ADHD or autism, as she doesn’t ever put her hand up in class or get involved with other children outside of her best friend” (best friend she’s known since she was 5)! My ex was unusually lost for words (that’s a first her being silent), I just said no we haven’t and she has neither of those things she’s been at your school 2 weeks and is transitioning from being at Junior school to now being one of the smallest at a school with over 800kids at it! So no wonder she’s being quiet she is literally a rabbit in headlights adjusting!

Less than 10days later at the end of the month we had the “1 month review” same teacher “your daughter is such a delightful bubbly little chatter box, always smiling and has made so many new friends! Cue my sarcastic response so she’s not autistic or suffering from ADHD like you said and in fact was just a “bit shy around new people”.

I’m not trying to be flippant toward people genuinely that have autism or adhd etc but seems society at moment is very quick to throw out these labels or trying to pigeon hole kids before they’ve even given them a chance at developing.

Spent 45 minutes trying to close the account. Sky said “ we need 35 days notice “ and we gave them 34 days. MissisT has the original contract signed 22 years ago stating 30 days notice to be given.

One of the things I thought I had planned my cancellation to allow for the 31 days notice (new contract every 18 months) based upon the DD date and the fact I wanted to watch the Dunhill champs and the Singapore F1. Sorry she said your contract date is not the same as your DD date so dad to pay a small amount extra.

One of the changes is that I could keep the SKY Q box as I only have the 1TB one version, so now have a 1TB hard disk if I need it (unlike the old boxes the HDs are easy to get at).

I did get the very long phone call trying to get me to stay a few days after cancelling.

BMW EV first service check at the dealer... an acctuator replaced under warrenty. Otherwise visual check + Brake oil change. Total £500 incl 205 for labour charges. The BMW bonnet is sealed and can only be opened by 'trained folks'. That trained folk just cost me 200 quid

So where are the things you are supposed to check regularly e.g windscreen washer fluid, brake fluid level? What happens if the standard battery drops a cell and the AA or someone are called out?

2nd irritation of the day! Engine management lights just decided to come on in my car! Quick diagnostic check shows it’s one of the glow plugs! Just ordered 4 new ones from Euro Car Parts for delivery tomorrow £107 to be fair not a bad price and I’ll fit them when they arrive but it’s just a little bit irritating 🤣
Hope it's not VAG;)

Who was it said "EV's will be cheaper to service as there's nothing to do on them.."....lol
Sounds like thats going to be an expensive ownership, if you have to have a "brake oil change" every year (I assume as it's only a year old now)

Same place 🤣🤣
Was absolutely stunning spent all my days basically in the infinity pool staying at the Atlantic 🤣
Room right on the corner as well so woke up every morning to the double aspect sea view.
We've always been adults only. I'm told its being refurbished next year, which it does need TBH.
I do like it there though, apart from the surf...which when you get it wrong can be very painful;)

We didn’t bother with adults only as there was barely any kids there so didn’t see the need to. It’s closed next year up till mid October I think. I loved the place but can see it being even better with the uplift in rooms.

I loved the surf as well nature’s aggressive side combined with beauty I did get it wrong once though got wiped out by an 8ft wave and lost my Ray Bans 🤣

Many have lost items and jewellery there. They also have on average 1 person a week break an arm, leg or collarbone being brave with the surf.
I got wiped out once, and was driven head first down into the sand. I got lucky and managed to surface myself and escape :)

What the hell is a "brake oil change"? Is it something unique to EVs?
Or is it just a brake fluid change - and if so, what kind of car needs new brake fluid after 1 year?
