Random Irritations

Have you had vaccinations? Hopefully no worse than a heavy cold for you. šŸ¤ž
Had the first 2 vaccs then nothing since then... Knackered. And have spent most of the time in bed.. Mostly feels like a bad cold.. Apart from whole upper body feeling painful... almost to the touch... It's like the pain you get when you have really bad sunburn and your clothing moves against it..

Ouch, get well soon.

I’ve had loads of vaccinations, partly because I’m a ā€œcarerā€ for my Mum and Dad. Happy to keep getting any vaccination I’m offered.

Irritation 1: My dog has a bit of an upset tummy after sneaking access to his snack box in the utility room. God knows how much he snaffled before my daughter caught him. Greedy little slink.

Irritation 2: Took him out for his usual walk. Part of said walk includes a section through the edge of the woods. A lot of other dog walkers don’t even pick up poo there. But I always do. As we were leaving the woods a woman was shouting after me. I thought I’d dropped something. She proceeded to shout and attempted to chastise me for not picking up poo. I calmly showed her the 2 bags I’d picked up. Apparently, there was a ā€˜remnant’ remaining. When we got to the spot, there was a small damp patch on dry mud where his sloppy poo (self inflicted…) had previously sat. I was genuinely shocked. Not sure what she expected me to do. Very embarrassing and irritating. Thankfully other people in the vicinity (she made quite a scene) were as perplexed as me. One made a joke that I should bring my powerwash with me next time which lightened the situation a bit. The woman just stormed off.

Was her name Karen?

Out of town "Designer Outlets" full of people clutching multiple designer carrier bags.
Why did we go there? Bored.
Why did we leave? Bored.
Whilst my wife wandered into Next I slunk into ProCook kitchen shop.
Spotted a clearance sign on a very nice range of crockery in several designs.
4 bowls, 4 side plates and 4 dinner plates for just over £12. Unbelievable no brainer.
Found wife, dragged her in and said "Waddya think?"
She picked one up, looked at me and said "Do you know what melamine is?"

Anyway, I had a nice pair of electric S&P mills, reduced.
Batteries only cost £10+
In the car I said, "Well that's me done for another three years".

Electricity is off again, seem to be in a few hectares designated as 'not 1st world'.
Here's the main irritation though, when returning from golf there were two Electricity vans parked in the passing place near the house. As I mentioned passing place, you may have concluded this isn't a densely populated area. So why were they there on a Sunday afternoon, chatting and looking at watches....
Entering the house I was half expecting the power to be off, but it was fine - for about an hour and a half.
Seems too much of a coincidence.

Of course have had the usual, 'engineers on the way' stuff 😐

Chelsea tractor drivers parking in multi-storey car parks... Was visiting Coventry Cathedral over the weekend. Went to a car park. All spaces are pretty tight.
However, there is always a range rover or some sort of big van parked just before or just after the ramp. So the turning radius to get on or off the ramp is always tight. I too was driving an SUV so, had to go up the ramp, then while turning, reverse a bit back, and then turn. The guy behind must have honked twice and thought i m silly WAG unable to drive big cars.

Tradesmen who cant think but just do stuff. We got an antique looking panel during our trip to India, so needed some shelving to display it. It is a straightforward box but will have some custom work on shelf spacing and angles. I use a carpenter who was an apprentice a few years ago and now works on construction sites. So asked him if he could come over and build some shelves . Drew it out for him. He has made the stuff, but got the calculation wrong. It is not million miles from where i needed it, but it could have been so much better.

Now the time to mount the panel and he has come up with the idea to screw it in!!. Would be great to see a bit of steel driven thru a piece of fragile wooden panel. Not sure what he has been drinking/smoking. He probably will never do something like this again. Instead of learning a challenging new thing, he is just going thru motion. Why cant they use their brains!!

To be fair, I think there is a big difference between nailing roof joists with a big hammer and nail guns and making some display shelving :)

true... but he wants to shelves and cabinets as his side hustle on weekends for some extra money. I am assuming site work is a bit slow because he turned up on a weekday. He needs the money as he is off on holidays.
So if he into that, i was hoping he could a bit better on the thinking aspect of it.

As my architect describes tradesmen.... They are paid to do, not to think

I'm the same, since turning 65 I've had pretty much every vaccine going. Just had the second shingles vaccine which is probably the only one that knocked me back a bit.
What is more worrying is the amount of parents not getting their kids vaccinated, rather believing what is spouted by uninformed individuals on social media rather than believing the medical experts.
A perfect example is the uprise in the case of measles.
Why are measles cases rising in the UK?
Confirmed on the Government website.
