Random Irritations

Next door having their drive pressure washed, a new drive being installed over the road, someone doing some paving slabs cutting ...
Jeez the noise is driving me insane...
Most noise we normally get is a car going past...might have to go out..

Gnocchi.
I took over kitchen duties 17 years ago when I retired and can have a decent stab at anything - even went on an Indian cuisine course for 10 weeks (evenings, 2 hours).
Pasta dishes, of all varieties, are enjoyed regularly and we eat differently every night (ok, always with cutlery!).
This week, on a whim, I picked up a pack of gnocchi. Never tried it before but have seen it featured often on cookery programmes and printed recipes.
Simple stuff, boiling water two minutes, drain, add to sauce and whatever chosen ingredients to accompany.
Verdict:
Nicky gnocchi noo!
Bloody awful stuff!
Not an alternative to pasta at all!

Yep, definitely agree. Had it a couple of times and always thought it was a bit bland, irrespective of what sauce you use.

We like it fried in a little bit of olive oil. Crispy on the outside then.

Wrapping presents! Wife's birthday on Saturday so spent this morning wrapping the presents. First irritation is my fault for buying irregular shaped presents but even the square ones look like they have been wrapped by a 4 year old, in the dark, with mittens on, behind their back, etc, etc. Too much paper, too little paper, never get it right.

I know I could get bags but too tight for that.

I know I could go online and find a formula to work out the optimum size of paper needed but life is much too short for that.

I know I could just get vouchers in an envelope but been there, done that.

And don't even mention losing the end of the sellotape.

At least it is all over now (until Christmas!)

People massively overthink wrapping presents. As long as the whole thing is covered by the paper, that's good enough for me. They're only going to rip it off again.

I assume cos you didn't mention it, you're ok doing the ribbons then?

If it looks like a mess, don't worry. It shows that you at least took the time to wrap it yourself. If it's perfect then someone else did it, less personal. (That's what i tell my wife when she's shaking her head at me 🤣)

Unless it Christmas or for a wedding, to get a wrapped present in my family you have to be under 18.

Thankfully he has been roundly condemned by a host of neuro diverse charities and organisations. He tried to do quite a disservice to autistic people with that statement.

He's done now in broadcasting.
Good, through my eldest son I’ve been around ā€œneurodivergenceā€ for 24 years, what Wallace is trying to do is disgraceful. I’m not saying autistic people cannot do things that seem inappropriate to ā€œnormalā€ people but it’s not an excuse for his sleazy behaviour.
