Random Irritations

Why do people think traffic lights are optional if they're only temporary lights? Every time I come to a set of temp lights, I always seem to be at the front of the queue, because the previous 4 cars have all just run the red light. One of these days I would love to see someone have to reverse all the way back when they get caught out doing this!
When i was instructing he phrase I used to describe drivers like that was "ignorant, arrogant or impatient....or any combination of the 3"

£8 for two ice creams off the van outside school, was it worth it though to see the smiles on the kids faces?

Absolutely not.
Where I pick my grandson up from school (several miles away), parking is at a premium. That's if you have a conscience and care about blocking drives or parking within the crossing lines.
Keira (personalised licence plate) doesn't, she parks as close as she can.
I digress.
Everyday the ice cream van turns up an hour early to grab a legal space amongst the parents.
Any problem with that?
Yes, it's diesel and has to run the engine to refrigerate.
If you're behind it or several behind it you get slowly gassed.

I deliberately park a few streets away so they can get some exercise. Most of the parents fight to see who can park in the school hall, it seems.

Singers / bands bringing people on stage to join in, usually after seeing a sign in the crowd. It's rubbish, someone needs to tell them that. It gets them clicks and pr, sadly I suspect the reason for doing it.

They need to remember the Peter Kay quote regarding U2.

You cant leave it like that - what was it?

This is not word for word but it goes along the lines of : I went to see U2 and Bono stopped singing during 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For', and held out the microphone for the crowd to sing. Well Bono, I didn't pay £50 (you can tell it's an old quote), to hear Fred from down the road sing. Sing it yourself you lazy x$3%*'

Agree, with the exception of The Killers getting a drummer from the crowd... Worked brilliantly last year when a woman from the crowd drummed during Reasons Unknown. :D

Bloody Sky

I upgraded to Sky Q last month, and the earliest they could get an engineer to fit it was today. OK, fair enough, I'm sure they are busy, and they've obviously got a schedule. So, today was the day they had a spare slot.

Been messaging me all week to remind me, again fair enough. Tell me the engineer would be here between 8am to 1pm.

So, I've worked from home this morning, though there are only limited things I can do. Patiently been waiting.

Now I've got some automated message saying that, due to delays the engineer might not make the slot today. Do I want to reschedule, or for him to TRY and make it later.

Just a nightmare trying to schedule my work around blooming Sky. At least a lot of firms will give you a half day slot, but also say they'll ring you 30 mins beforehand. Gives me time to get home from work.

Remember when Keith Moon collapsed on stage after overindulgence of substances, and a guy in the crowd sat in for a few numbers?
Was it the same with The Killers - ie. a replacement was needed at short notice?

No its a "Thing" they do, there were a few people holding up placards with "Killers new drummer here" etc, they chose a woman who was very good.

I wonder how many times they've done that but ended up with some idiot who actually can't play at all? 😆
I was once at a Daevid Allen gig at a pub in Cambridge (The Boat Race) and a girl wandered up on stage and started hitting the drums randomly.
Daevid was a very gentle guy who didn't go in for conflict and he announced there would now be some poetry with avant-garde drum accompaniment.
After a while he encouraged the crowd to start chanting "we want you to go" (in a friendly manner) until the girl got the message and voluntarily left the stage.
All very amicable.

The sheer stupidity of human beings

Reading on the BBC about the Brits stuck out In Israel trying to get home

"Deborah Claydon, 41, a teacher from Hertfordshire, flew to Israel last Wednesday for what was supposed to be a three-day trip to attend her cousin's wedding.'

Israel has been on the avoid travel advise list for a while

This was in may

"Israel – against all travel to Gaza, the West Bank and Northern Israel. All but essential travel to the rest of Israel"

Always an important family wedding top trumps common sense
