Most companies have a policy about social media use and it's impact on your place of work. If you make posts that could cause your employer problems then it's a disciplinary matter. Lineker was warned about his posts, he kept doing it. This was inevitable and is on him.

It’s as simple as that. It’s nothing to do with agreeing or disagreeing with him, he has been warned previously and ignored the warning. He put his employer in a difficult position and was rightly shown the door.

This late May bank holiday is a bit irritating. We have only just had May Day, and the next bank holiday is not until August. It should be moved to other the end of June or October.

Agreed, but then I don’t get it off in my teaching job. Friday and Monday off in September.

There ought to be a Bank Holiday Saturday sometime in the year.
Imagine a Saturday were all those who regularly work on Saturdays get the day off.
No shops, pubs, restaurants, cafes, cinemas, leisure centres, public transport etc. No sports events to attend.
What would we all do?
Of course there would still be some who miss out - Police, Fire Service, Hospital and Ambulance staff and many more.
It is never going to happen, but thinking about it puts things in perspective.

For many, a Bank Holiday means more work or a busier day than usual.

I do understand your point, my wife worked for nearly 30 years in a casino. Only Bank Holiday she got was Christmas.

Most? I doubt it, there is no statutory right to any extra pay on BH, the NHS does not pay extra and I don’t think the supermarkets do.
