Random Irritations

People who put clocks a few minutes fast so that they are not late for something.

Surely they know when they look at said clock that it is however many minutes fast, which defeats the object?

My missus does this with her bedside alarm clock and the clock on the cooker. It irritates me when I look at them, as I know they are wrong, and have to look at my watch for the right time.
My bedside clock is also fast, deliberately set so. The reason being when I wake up and check the time, my mind isn't fully switched on so having the clock a little fast means I won't be late.
Every other clock and watch I own is correct.

If I put on an alarm for, say, 7.30am, I also set one for 7.15am so I can wake up knowing I've got 15 more minutes in bed.
😀

Clients who keep saying the same thing, despite it not being true, I can only assume hoping that people eventually believe it - they don't yet seem bored with me pointing out every time it's not true.

Simple jobs that turn into ridiculous time consuming jobs

Tap leaking on bath, well it's spraying out of the side aswell so needs replacing..

Victoria plum don't exist anymore so local plumbing shop..

Oh we don't do anything like that

Online spares for it.. nope

Looks like tiles will need to be removed and redo the entire lot . Was hoping to not have to bother with that.. I'll keep hunting for a tap that fits the blooming outlet
Obviously I have not seen it.

Can you just replace the tap valve (sometimes called the gland)

This is the offending bit. Two separate plumbing shops didn't think anything would work to go over it however shop 1 asked someone else who works there when he got in and have ordered a tap that should work.. it's only a spout. Very annoying..should be simple

I have something exactly the same - a wall mounted tap on tile. My tap was leaking so got new glands just need a special tool to replace the gland i believe - but should be able to do it without wrecking the tiling (or so said my plumber mate)

The shop have ordered a new spout (£75) that should go over normally and bobs your uncle

Thr email saying RPI is 3.6% so you can pay us an extra 7.5% triggered me too.
We're sort of in the same boat, there's some massive trees over the road that block a satellite signal so we're stuck with these.
Nearly all operators use either RPI/CPI plus 3.9%....its what the regulators have historically mandated that BT restrict their prices by and other operators either toe the same line or more recently are instructed similarly.

Doesn't matter who your broadband operator is...the April price increase will be similar across the board.

LitFibre and Community Fibre contract prices are fixed.

Looks like a simple case of change the O rings from what I can see, assuming the leak is coming from the side of the fixture when the tap is in place. Hard to really tell without seeing what is happening when everything is in situ.

Does the tap just push in to place on to the fitting?

Theres no actual leak, the issue is the spout itself. Over time it's rusted away and now water comes out the side of it so needs replacing

The spout yes pushes into place on that fitting

I just need a new spout (which is on order now) originally two plumbing shops told me it would be replace the tap behind the wall , but the first shop got advise from someone else and they found a tap that will work

Not the best picture but can you see the stream of water coming from the side of the spout itself?

My nice new shirt.
Jack Wills, with a label that says 'Fabulously British'
A wee label at the back says 'Made in China'.:(

My Mrs bought a Milky Way yesterday.
She ate it in the car and chuntered away that she paid 28p and it was half the size of 1960 ones.
1960 ones cost 3d [1.5p] so by todays price and size that would equate to about 12 shillings.

Did you point out that it was just a matter of perspective? The choc was the same size as in 1960 but she has doubled in size.
