Random Irritations

Some months back my passenger side wing mirror was scraped by a car, or shopping trolley or something. The indicator still worked but the outer plastic cover was damaged but the under plastic was fine. MOT today and it's failed because it's not as bright as it should be because of the damage? So the Nissan garage is over the road from the test centre and the MOT receptionist says to go over, buy the bit, and they'll fit it free (nice customer service)

Popped over, ordered it, said that it won't be there until Monday (no problem) and they'll need the £174 up front!

£174 ?????? For a tiny slither of plastic - and they tried to pursade me to buy a new Nissan !!!

Hearing today from my colleague (and good friend of 22 years so far) that him and his wife are breaking up. I'm really worried about his mental health

When my Corsa went in for a window regulator replacement after only 3 years old (out of warranty ofc) they called me up (sales team) to ask if I wanted to see the new models to look to get another one

I said not a chance, your having the car for a window regulator, it's seat spilt after a year which I repaired at my own cost . The abs wiring loom went and took you 2 months to fix the on board charger needed replacing and even tho it worked 90% time it still took you 6 months to get the replacement , oh and the paint on the roof is peeling off ..I wouldn't go near one of your cars again if you paid me

"Oh if your sure"

My youngest dau has just signed up for a wifi sim and deive that gives her 5G for all her devices at £12 a month.
I can't tell you who its with or the cownload capacity, but I can find out if you want.
This is because the twet of a soon to be ex husband wants to cancel the Virgin contract they had.

Did you try eBay? I broke the indicator carrier on my Skoda's door mirror (my own fault) and got a replacement on eBay for £15.

Incidentally, whose daft idea was it to put indicator repeaters in such a vulnerable place? What was wrong with having them on the side of the wing? Remember the good old days when a door mirror was just that, without any motors or other electrical components? Swipe it off and it cost just a few quid to replace.

Trying to be efficient and save time on a very tight schedule by acting on a draft/interim report - to find the actual report is much different and needs a day of rework. Next time will just sit twiddling my thumbs waiting for the final documents.

Personally I would have put dark tape over the whole light. Not all cars have lights on the wing mirrors so surely not having an indicator there cannot be an MOT failure.

I got one of my cars through an MOT for years by having a yellow sweet wrapper over a hole in the indicator glass.

Having checked out this route I found out you need a sim which is not speed locked and unlimited data, plus, depending on the contract, you might need to buy a 5g router The only suitable provider for me was EE and it's cost was about the same as broadband (£30/month). Above all you need to live in an area with top notch 5g, which I do not have.

If an indicator (or any light) is fitted and it has been disabled or the efficiency has been affected by 40% or more then it will fail an MOT.

Your sweet wrapper technically should have failed as a structural defect in the light unit but probably wouldn’t have failed on efficiency if it was transparent enough for the light to pass through unaffected.
