Ok, I guess "invented" is the wrong word. Someone must have mixed red and white at some point. And there are pink things in nature.How do you invent a colour?
But pink as a colour simply wasn't used for things like clothes until the Victorian era, when it started being used for boys. Perhaps there was no easy way to dye things pink until then.

Pink dye comes from cochineal, an insect from South America. They have been around for millions of years (not that I am suggesting cavemen wore pink).

I remember lots of bright colours for stuff in the 70s.
My experience is that the seniors at my club often wear clothes and have golf gear that is "out there". Great variety.
Younger players seem constrained within very narrow bounds of a perceived "current uniform" for playing golf.
I have a reputation for wearing shorts with flowery patterns.
Some have tried to take the mick. I give as good as I get, "I see you are shooting for 'hopelessly dull' and have succeeded admirably. Matches your personality perfectly."

So I built another set in my office for my stuff, 3 units.
Forward a year and I have 2 units and diminishing.

We're in the process of getting quotes for a new kitchen and some building work done at the same time. Dealing with the shops has been okay, sort the kitchen out they quote and you know what you're doing. The trades people though, why do they think that it is acceptable to provide quotes of £15,000 + VAT for example. They know it's a private residence and so I'm not able to claim the VAT back like I would through my business so why do they try and make the amount look less by not including the VAT.

Any VAT registered contractor has to show the price and the VAT separately… you could offer cash and see if they can give you a 20% discount
