Random Irritations

Depends what sector you work in I think, the Maritime and Offshore Wind stuff is fantastic.

I agree, my last role was supporting HM Coastguard!

This gets lost in a sea of politics, meaningless awards and twits posting rhetorical questions to try and look good.

Any post starting "I'm really excited" can similarly be ignored.

More than once over the last couple of days I heard Global Radio news reporting (LBC, Heart etc) on three major flood warnings for the river Derwent in Derby - when it wasn’t Derby…it was Derbyshire…there’s a difference.🙄. And it mattered a lot for those living in or driving through Derbyshire.

Unfortunately typical of the sloppy reporting that seems quite prevalent for Global News. Additionally irritating is that listeners must have reported, or the production team must have spotted, the error…but it wasn‘t corrected.

I've just deleted LinkedIn and cancelled account too.

I'm now retired and as you say the content is truly awful.
Reminds me that I meant to do that…rarely looked or got any great value from it…couple of times got recruitment chats but nothing more over many years.

Following on from SILH's comments about sloppy reporting on LBC, I get very irritated by their traffic reports. And it's not one particular reader either. They all do it.

e.g. "There are long delays on the A249 southbound due to an accident that happened earlier" !!! Of course it happened earlier you idiots. It would be unlikely that the delays were due to an accident that's happening later today :rolleyes:

…though it appears that as the R Derwent flows through Derby the warnings and reporting May will have been accurate…so my irritation may have been unnecessary - doesn’t change how sloppy GN reporting can be. But maybe not this time.

My best friend lives at Darley Abbey - part of Derby - and they had their own flood warning.
And it was correct, because their local park was flooded and a toll bridge was closed.

Nearest pub to our house closed as while back when landlords retired.

New tenants converted it to and Indian. Great job of refurb, food however absolutely blooming shocking. Two goes, both awful.

Do they get another chance? Probably not.
I give a place two goes and if it's not right it'll never be right.
