Random Irritations

Products that claim to do more than they actually do. Currently got a sore throat and taking Strepsils (other throat lozenges are available) which claim to be triple action. These 3 actions are:
  • Relieves pain
  • Fights infection
  • Soothes sore throats
Surely if you relieve pain then you sooth the throat so not really triple action, double at best.

Whenever I had a Strepsil they had one action - making my tongue go numb. Didn't do much for my throat. 😆

Absolutely lost for words, I’m struggling to think of what type of scum would even come up with the idea.

Not saying that this is the case here but unlicensed logging in hardwood trees is on a massive rise with the increase in timber prices and a massive demand for slabs rather than milled timber.

Sycamore is an incredibly hard wood and is becoming more popular due to it's durability and it looks great too. However, this is tempered by the fact that it's hard to work with because it's so hard.

Possibility is that someone intended to come back for it and make some cash. Possibly not, but it does come at a time when "tree piracy" is becoming a thing.

This is one of my irritations too. Manufacturers claiming things that their product simply can't do. I've got a lawnmower that claims it can "mow right up to the edge of your lawn". Absolute nonsense. It's got a plastic guard around the blade (which is a good thing) so it can't possibly cut right up to the edge because the guard is in the way.

Gits !!

Don't know why the N.P.A. have any 'doubt' that it was deliberate. The photos show quite clearly that it was cut down - ie didn’t fall of its own accord - ergo deliberate. Who/why/when is another matter. Gits!! (I think unlikely to be GreginFife's suggestion of 'tree piracy' - you'd want somewhere with 'less conspicuous' and easier access for that).

There are a lot of really upset people up here in the North East, it was iconic.

Yeah, I don't know the tree or the area so not sure what the access would be.

But an estate near here lost 2 large oak and a beech last month and all that was left were the trimmed limbs and branches, the trunks were gone. one of the oaks alone once milled would be worth over £5000

Someone was late approving my expenses claim so I'm going to be £200 short this month. 😠
Monthly expenses piss me off. There is no reason at all why they can’t be done weekly other than companies wanting to hold on to cash for longer.

Needy people who need activities for their birthday to go on for multiple days.

Anything past a simple “happy birthday” is too much in my opinion.

I am so in agreement with this one. I have had people arrange basically birthday months with trips away, meals out, pub nights, parties etc which they expect all of their friends to stump up cash for and attend.

My birthday us December 11th, I try and find one place without a Xmas menu and decorations that look like Santa vomited tinsel everywhere and go for a bite to eat and a few drinks with my wife whilst hiding from people wishing me a merry xmas.
