Random Irritations

1. The pathetic immature nature of some that don’t like noise from outside their own bubble

2. Internet stalkers with a very sad obsession

3. Passport control at Luton airport taking longer than the flight from Spain

Not been in a Bank in ages... finally went to withdraw some for a cash purchase. Was turned away as they dont carry that much cash.. bizarre conversation..
Me: Can I have 5k...
Bank: Max I can do is 2k ... might stretch to 3k. But I can order it in for you. you can come collect it tomorrow.
Me: Ok can i pick it from my local branch on Sat
Bank: Sorry, there is no cash dealings on Sat in the Branch, you order for Monday collection.

>exit left.
No wonder bank branches are closing down. for reference, this is one of UK big banks and I was in a central london branch .. just gave up.

They do hold cash, but it’s put aside for the cash machines.
It’s all down to money laundering rules, any legit transaction can be done bank to bank, so why do you need such a large amount of cash, unless you are buying a stash 👍
Or something nefarious 😬

It’s my money .. I can buy anything.. if a tradesman does not want to show it on his books, I can’t help it

One of my friend suggest that I should walk in and ask for 20k and say ‘I am a professional gambler, and I am at the high roller table tonight’… just to check how much of alarm bells and AML does it trigger .. I am tempted to do it, just looking for a 20k

It’s an old dodge, people do it and for the odd couple of hundred quid nobody is going to fret over it.

But an amount that size, it’s wrong
Treasury misses out on a lump of vat
He will use the cash to pay his guys cash in hand, no tax, no national insurance, no employers pension contributions.

Treasury looses, employees lose in the long term, multiply that by a few thousand individual transactions a year and that’s why our taxes are so high, because people are evading.

Used to be a bank manager in the distant past (finished 2013). Large cash withdrawals needed to be ordered for collection. All of these requests were quietly checked for anti money laundering purposes. In a few instances I would even have a chat with someone to ascertain the reason for cash as this was not a usual way of transacting. Stopped plenty of people paying cash to trades people who were on the dodge for the same reasons given by Fragger.

This is just an illusion I’m afraid, you can only spend your money if the Bank agrees.
It’s the trade off for turning away from cash. (For your convenience and safety 😆)

Would you still be saying this when they don’t protect you from a scam and want your money back?
These rules are also in place to protect little old ladies from unscrupulous tradesmen who march them to the bank to pay thousands for a loose tile on their roof.

Indeed, people need to remember that the governments increasing control and surveillance is always for your benefit. 🤪🤪🤪

Me and the lass withdrew £500 between us each day. when having our new fence, our kitchen done and again when we had the house painted. Just need to plan ahead and visit cash machines

Saves us 20%.

Cold symptoms came on yesterday evening, just took covid test as going to MIL end week (she’s 93, in hospital and frail) and BiL living in her house and where I’d stay has compromised immune system due to his cancer treatment…Positive…oh for goodness sake.

And we are due to be travelling up North to a cousin’s 60th party in Banchory on Saturday….🙁

When your buddy went into hospital 5 days ago for a broncoscopy only to be admitted into an isolation room off ICU because he’s too ill to be scoped. Rescheduled for today but still too ill to be scoped, rescheduled for Wednesday.

Weight now 7st 7lbs, and 6’ 2”… concerned, worried and jumpy every time I see his dad’s number on my phone, which is every morning.

Beyond irritated.
