Random Irritations

'Nuff said really
Parcel delivered at 10.49 to a safe place..
1. Why couldn't they have knocked or rung the bell as the Mrs was in..
2. Where the hell is this safe place as it's nowhere on my property...
They had one job............
Me mum Once had a custom
Painted toilet cistern delivered. Cost about £300. Photo showed it had been delivered. It was on her drive they said.
No it wasn’t it was on a drive around the corner about 50yds away.

The responsibility has always been the driver, maybe reminders should cost £5 and then if people want them they can pay and anyone else can use either a diary or a phone to set a reminder

All the advances In tech are brought to a halt by human behaviour
The DVLA have a free MOT reminder service, you just sign up online.

Sorry. Did you say, "a custom painted toilet cistern?"
🤣🤣🤣
Tell me that's an autocorrect.

Point is they send reminders in the post, rightly or wrongly that’s the system and some people rely on it. So not getting the reminder is the irritation.

Stop mansplaining the internet to the software developer, please.
No ones mansplaining anything , just offering advice. Maybe the post service lost your original reminder letter and it's nothing to do with the DVLA.

Maybe it got nicked along with those birthday cards a few days ago

Ok, I’ll bite on this one. Making it an either or judgement is wrong. There are good and bad clinical staff but there’s a real danger in pointing fingers at the profession. And there’s a million miles between someone who is putting their coat on 5 mins before finishing time and a serial killer.

I would put money on virtually every single member of the clinical/nursing staff, especially in the acute areas, works beyond their finishing time at least once every week. It’s impossible to walk off the unit/theatre halfway through a procedure, and that procedure can happen at any time when they’re on shift. Don’t pee off 99.99% of clinical staff.

Following the Beverley Allott inquiry/Lord Clothier report, early 90’s, there were a multitude of recommendations and changes introduced, along with significant changes to how medical equipment is manufactured and operated. Beverley Allott was a nurse at a hospital in Grantham who deliberately killed a number of patients. I’m going back 30yrs - apologies if I’m being vague.

Apart from the serial killer, who got it wrong? Could/should the senior clinicians have put their foot down sooner? Until we know all the fact, don’t even go there. Seriously, seriously, seriously support the staff who will now be feeling (unfairly) guilty and very vulnerable. As for some of the senior managers… tar and feather.
To add substance to my comments...I know 2 nurses who both ahd long service but left for the private side because of the "face fit" mentality. My middle brother eldest daughter is a nurse, who qualified 3 years ago. She has seen so many younger nurses leave because of the "faces fit/old boys club" situation. I know there are plenty of excellent nurses who do an excellent job, but there are plenty who do have a less than ideal attitude and wouldn't be entertained on the private side simply because of their ways and attitudes.
I suppose I could possibly have phrased my comment better, but I have to say my sentiment remains. The NHS is a wonderful being, but it is wasteful and allows too many to stay employed within it's ranks that shouldnt be.

In that case, a diary reminder is the thing. Now there is no tax disc to give a reminder, the responsibility is that of the car owner to ensure their vehicle is taxed, insured and MOT'd.
I’m sure you have been corrected on this, seeing as people like to be exact on here, but it’s the registered keeper that is responsible for tax and MoT (where applicable) not the owner or the driver.

Possibly pedantic, but we know how much the forum loves accuracy.

The 20/30 something who stepped on a zebra crossing expecting the ambulance who was running blues and twos' to stop, and when it (rightly) didn't threw their arms up in the air huffing.

Society evolves. What was acceptable nearly 50yrs ago isn’t now. And our own metrics change too. I can remember enjoying Love thy neighbour 50+yrs ago. I got 5 mins into an episode last year = cringeworthy and embarrassing.
But FBG’s is a classic rock song by an awesome group.
Nothing offensive about it at all. (Unless you have a big arse I suppose)

How does that equate to serial killers?

Just had to get two new tyres fitted, picked the car up, got half a mile away and the rear driver side starts grinding and squealing. Garage conveniently closed now as I was last pick up.

Now stuck in a car park waiting on my mate getting and dropping off my tools.

Just that the management structure within the NHS doesn't really help, with staff left in place because their face fits or similar.
Would Letby, Shipman orAllitt have managed to get away with it for so long if they were in the private sector?

Yet GPs are a private business. So doesn't really work out your theory of mass murderers hiding in the wonderful NHS.
