Random Irritations

I have no problem with her being a transexual, but I always figured beauty pageants and the like would award natural beauty. Her body, and face, must have been hugely modified by surgery. You wouldn't expect someone who's had a lot of plastic surgery to win a beauty pageant would you?

You are 100% correct.
I also wouldn't expect a man to be crowned Miss Netherlands, or Miss anywhere else, but we are living in a decidedly twisted world.

I would stop peddling that nonsense if I was you, it is making you sound like a bigot and a dinosaur. I don't pretend to understand all gender based issues nowadays, but to my mind someone who has a full sex change from male to female is a woman now.

I have no problem with anyone’s sexual orientation or gender identification. And thank goodness there’s surgery that helps them achieve what makes them happy and feel fulfilled.

The bit I struggle with is when someone whose physique they developed in their early years clearly gives them an advantage in the group they are now competing in. I don’t know the right answer, nor do I feel informed enough to choose the direction sport needs to go in that respect. For wiser heads than mine to find a way forward.

I don't need to watch the video as I have already been educated, but thanks anyway. (y)
Given the kind of things Mr Shady has posted here in the past, I can understand why you decided the video would not be for you.
But I did watch the video, and have to say it's a remarkably well-balanced argument. I don't agree with it 100%, but on the whole it makes some very good points.

Do beauty pagents have rules banning surgery?
My guess is that quite a few biologically female contestants might have undergone some kind of "enhancement".
If some degree of surgery is allowed, where do you draw the line?
If a biologically male person ends up being considered more beautiful than a group of biologically female people, fair enough.
It's not like they have an unfair advantage due to genetics - quite the opposite, in fact.

Needless to say, I am not an expert on beauty pageants, haha. But if all the contestants had plastic surgery left, right and centre, it does seem to my mind to go against the spirit of things. Would the girl be the real winner or her surgeon? You are probably right though, I wouldn't be surprised if several of them have breast enhancements for example which are probably allowable.

Beauty pageants in general are pretty dated anyway. Surprised they haven't been binned off by now.

I thought it started well but then stretched a few points without foundation. It didn’t explain the neurological bit well enough, or at all.

I assume the staff consider not being able to afford to live to a good standard as inconvenient as well.

yes - many underpaid train drivers and controllers. We should have a collection and give it to the teachers, fireman and nurses. But hey, ho, wouldn't be the forum without quuick challenges to someones randon irritaion - i will have to remember to not be irritated by something that personally inconveniences. Must remember that

Well feel free to leave it. nobody is keeping you here 🙏

Wouldn't expect you to understand an issue where people stand up for each other rather than being completely self centred

there will be a lot of self centred self employed or zero-hour contracters or just the general wider population people out there inconvenienced and financially handicapped by these actions
