Random Irritations

I'm going there next month...have we picked a good one?
Mrs V and I first went to Alvor in 1983. We stayed at the Delfim Hotel.
£ was very strong against the Escudo at the time. Great holiday.
Good to go to Portimao for one day to get away from the tourist/commercialism and see a "real" town.
A day to see Silves and Caldas de Monchique is worth doing.

Thanks for the tips, hoping to rent a car so I'll tick a few off, just need to make sure the drive isn't too far the kids.

Got friends who are members at Palmares. So that's a stop off... very Algarve, but a tough old walk😁

played Palmares, a 27 hole course, Played the 18 holes in land and it is one of my favourite courses.

Another favourite place of mine is Pointa da piedade. Get the kids down there Bazzatron. 👍

People in airports, I’d say 99.99% are fine but the very small minority go way overboard 🤦🏻
Just seen a guy slamming his tray down and glaring at the security person because he had to have his bag searched, I actually giggled to myself as it was quite pathetic.
Oh and I had to have mine searched as well 🤣

Thanks for doing your job and keeping us safe

As Ramesh raganathan (spell) said in one of his sketches .. if he was a strategic planner for a terrorist organisation he would say forget acts of terror just mildly inconvenience the west .. they can't stand it

That and the fact they will always look to chip you down on the quoted price. But they are convenient though.
I took my M340i to the local WBAC for a laugh after their online "offer" seemed actually quite decent. Not too far away in Falkirk.

They wanted to knock £500 off because the tyres "clearly weren't new" (which I said, "well no, but they are 5mm tread all round and only done 4000 miles") and then followed it up with probably the stupidest thing I have ever heard another human utter...

"we'll have to reduce the offer by another £1000 as there is clearly a dent in the drivers door!"... I was puzzled, to quote This Mortal Coil, I was as puzzled as a newborn child... I new of no dents, the car was, genuinely, immaculate - inside and out.

So I duly went around and looked, nope I can't see a dent. He said "of course there is, look here, the light hits it and you can see it's a different angle to the rest!"... He remained adamant, even when I pointed out that there was indeed a difference in the light, and on the passenger side too... It's the factory crease that is in the actual car's design...

Needless to say, I looked at him rather blankly for a while with my best "are you ******* serious?" face and then just took my keys off him and drove straight out. I laughed about it for days.

If you go that route, make sure you get someone that knows something, hell, anything about cars before you get in to any discussions on condition. I've also heard other moronic, muppetesque behaviour from friends that have dealt with them too.

Oh it’s every time… over the last 3 months we have sold a ranger truck, a Belingo van and a Pug 305 at WBAC and have had money knocked off for not having a spare key, damage worse than described (it really wasn’t) uneven tread wear (couldn’t see what the bloke was on about) and having decals on. Still I expected it every time so I had factored it in to my expectations. At the end of the day it was convenient.

When you start reading a thread and there are 2 obdurate forum members discussing. I usually guess where is is going to go as neither will back down.

I would not consider mentioning names and sure most will have their own names!
