Random Irritations

MrsA is a secondary school teacher. She asked me yesterday about 6 7 because kids are using it in designs at school.
I had to Google it. Didn't realise the middle-class 14-year-old kids of Herts and Essex were so wrapped up in thug life.

Make sure you take loads of photos of holidays and days out, just in case they get famous and start telling people about their rough deprived upbringing.

I just asked my brood if they use it.
The reply was no dad we ain’t kids it’s what all the youngsters say.

I now feel very old and none the wiser.

Cheers Bazz

The calm before the storm. After selecting the team for the opening league match of the bowling season, two very late drop outs. Up early for breakfast before heading out to an away match only to see the clouds scrolling over with lots of flashes and bangs…

The Ilminster by-pass on the A303. This is a 3-lane road with alternating single and dual lane sections to give an opportunity to pass. 60 mph limit.
Why do people trundle along the single lane sections at 50 mph, only to speed up to 60 in the dual lane parts?

White van drivers

Our local Co Op , every single morning people use it on the way to work to grab coffee and lunch etc

The car park is decent size , at the front - child and disabled spots , in the middle for all the cars and then furthest away ( a whole 80 yards ) is about 6 spaces for white vans etc

Guess where all the van park though

Yep across all the disabled spots and child parking spots and end up causing mayhem in the car park

They do this in West OZ.......drives me crazy.

Where do blue or silver vans park then and are there signs saying all white vans to park at the very back?
I abhor bad parking full stop, and that includes people who use the child bays just because they have a car seat in the car. Or anyone who uses a disabled bay when they aren’t disabled badge or no badge.
I hope you never have anything delivered or trades working at your house or work. You do know they use vans.

Perhaps just be irritated by bad parking full stop :)

1. I think we are all aware that “white van” is meaning all types of vans

2. Yes they are clearly marked spots for vans - but maybe as they can’t read the disabled sign and parent parking they can’t read

3. Just because they deliver items for people doesn’t mean they can be ignorant of others when parking their vans

4. As it’s my irritation right now - it’s focused on white van drivers - when I see someone parking in a disabled spot who isn’t displaying a badge then I’ll be irritated by that 🙄

I am reviewing a contract for a new piece of military equipment and they mention telex as a means of communication 🤣
I don’t know how telex works but assume that it does not rely on digital telephony or internet technologies. So maybe it’s simply recognition of the need to have comms channels that can survive such as cyber attacks or destruction of the infrastructure that the modern telecoms world sits on.

I know that when I was working on a BBC project to replace their 17,000 landlines there remained a requirement to keep about 100 land lines across the country for resilience - with at least one at each key BBC site/location…and sat on the BBC DGs desk so that ‘in the event’ he could speak with the PM.

Nothing that exciting, it is just a way that the contractor can tell the MoD that there has been an issue - lists telex alongside mail, email and fax. Can't phone though, must be in writing :ROFLMAO:

More a "saddens the heart" than an irritation. Tracked down a very, very rare record from a seller in Mexico. Feedback all positive on the guy so doubt any of this is on him but the record appears to have gone AWOL in transit.

Sad that this will make it even rarer than it already is.
