Tried travelling by train for the first time in about a decade today. Needed to get from Waterloo to Euston. Tube strike, of course, so attempted taking a bus (no. 68)

First 68 arrives. "Only going as far as Aldwych, another will be along soon".
Few minutes later another 68 arrives with Euston on the destination board. Get on. At Aldwych, driver announces he stops here, everyone off.
Wait for the next one. Another 68 approaches, with Euston displayed. 100 yards before it arrives, destination changes to Aldwych.
So decide to walk (in the rain), along the 68 route. At no time did a 68 bus go past.

You'd think that when there's a tube strike on, TFL would try their best to run a usable bus service. This is why people don't use public transport.

If you had got off at Clapham Junction, you could have got the southern service direct to Watford Junction and from there you can get to any station in Hertfordshire

As the train pulled into Clapham Junction I did wonder about that, but by then it was too late to gather all my stuff together. And I wasn't sure about the validity of my pre-booked ticket which specified which trains to get.

My then girlfriend lived in Welwyn and I lived in Woking , we used to see each other alternate weekends at either town for 3 years.

Getting the last train from Welwyn to get the paper train to Woking I walked Kings Cross to Waterloo many times in my life because back then there were no tube trains at that time of day.

Funnily enough, I did this yesterday. Just walked from Waterloo to blackfriars and caught the Thameslink. On reflection, probably not much more trouble than trying to get a tube from vauxhall or Waterloo.

Had the misfortune of watching 5 minutes of the National Television Awards last night and caught the winner of the 'Authored Documentary' award - was the winner the documentary about Rob Burrow, the documentary about Amy Dowden's battle against breast cancer or the documentary about Freddie Flintoff's recovery (I assume) from his Top Gear crash?
Nope, it was a documentary made about Molly Mae, who's only claim to fame (in my eyes) appears to be as runner up on Love Island & was engaged to & had a child with Tyson Fury's son. Shows you who is voting for these pointless awards

I looked to add my son to my car insurance for 3 days in October, golf trip. They wanted £56 . I've done it previously with him via past insurers, they charged £12. Something to factor in when the renewal comes up

Tube strikes again for 7 days from this evening!!! The conservative estimated cost to the economy £230m and amonsgt other things they are striking to bring down weekly hours to 32! With the economy in this much of a mess.....

I'd give that to 'em no problem. "Part time work, you can have that immediately at your current rates. I'll just hire more staff".
