Random Irritations

Don't get me wrong I'm sure there was a small minority of far right idiots there but how many mosques were actually attacked? The attacks on hotels were more dangerous and far more concerning IMO.

The government could've nipped it in the bud but they did nothing, which is highlighted in the review. Thankfully it looks like they've learnt from the mistakes.

The attacks on hotels were all about the anti immigration as well because of the fake news being spread about the attacker being an immigrant

What the whole tradegy taught people is that there are those in society that will use anything to be able to carry out racial hatred - whether that’s on social media or physically in person

People will imo either twist the truth or use the fake news

The country is a tinderbox at times

Even if the full facts are published it won’t stop some and for other it’s just adds more fuel

They could have. However these incidents are learning curves. There isn't a set manual

People demand to know stuff they frankly have no business knowing

Plus even when the facts are presented to people they believe Karen on FB about putting bleach up their noses to stop COVID

Saw this

"There is an easy answer…the public should never take the law into its own hands, regardless of circumstances.

If a Muslim commits a crime, attacking a mosque doesn’t help. If a catholic commits a crime, attacking a church doesn’t help. If a father commits a crime, attacking other men who happen to have children doesn’t help.

As with some people turning BLM protests into an excuse to loot, these incidents are just people using external situations to themselves commit crime, usually underpinned by their own prejudices and frustrations.

If you commit a crime, don’t blame the Police’s comms team."

It's a difficult balance as there's so many nutjobs online who still blame the vaccine for all health issues, as if there were no heart attacks or blood clots pre 2020.

I just feel the Police should do their job and stick to reporting facts.

I would think lots of people were at work today.
Bank Holidays are a complete non-event for many working people.

There ought to be a Bank Holiday Saturday sometime in the year.
Imagine a Saturday were all those who regularly work on Saturdays get the day off.
No shops, pubs, restaurants, cafes, cinemas, leisure centres, public transport etc. No sports events to attend.
What would we all do?
Of course there would still be some who miss out - Police, Fire Service, Hospital and Ambulance staff and many more.
It is never going to happen, but thinking about it puts things in perspective.

For many, a Bank Holiday means more work or a busier day than usual.
As a retiree I would like everyone on here to feel sorry for me because I don't get Bank Holidays :(

If only the media could do that, too.
They should merely report the news, not make it.

The police revealed information early to try and stem the same online spread of disinformation and speculation seen after Southport, which caused so many problems in the days which followed.

Much like the spread of disinformation and speculation seen here during the last 24 hours.

Please keep that in mind.

Slight digression, do you think the people who initially attacked the car will get hunted down and arrested or just let that fly given the magnitude of what happened after?

I really don’t know, but I would imagine they would be able to cite a pretty strong defence if they felt threatened.

It’s very hard to know what kicked that off

The witnessed that were contacting 5 live last night were saying that the car was trying to barge through people - slowly at first and knocking into people which is when people reacted towards him

Mmmmm, it’s hard to see from the videos exactly what the chain of events is. The bloke is going to need protection while inside I imagine 🫣

I think they will be the focus of the defence and I can't see the police not looking into them. He shouldn't be there but he is only crawling until the car is attacked. It is not entirely cut and dried.

Just found out our local post office no longer has the Royal Mail sorting office in it.

If a parcel now needs to be collected it is 40 mile round trip to the sorting office they have allocated despite having one 5 miles away.

One of the worrying aspects is that if the sorting office has gone how long before the post office goes as well? Every other village/town in the immediate area has already lost their's.

Rude people

Went to London today and the place is full of rude ignorant 🛎️ ends

From people taking up multiple seats on the tube , to not getting up and offering the seats to elderly or pregnant ladies

My daughter accidentally stood on this guys foot who was spread eagled across the seats - he proceeded in a loud voice to shout out expletives at her , asked him politely to stop swearing in front on children and ladies - another barrel of expletives- unfortunately for him , transport police out of sight took him off for a word at the next station

Professional beggars - how can someone be homeless and desperate for money when they have a smart phone 🤷‍♂️

Because they spent all their money on a smartphone? 🤪

In this day and age it's really easy to become a rough sleeper. Having a phone isn't here or there. Get it when they have a home. Lose it, simple PAYG SIM , charge for free at some places whilst grabbing a coffee from that money they busk for.

Judging those for having a smart phone when homeless is ignorant of the issues faced with the cost of housing
