Random Irritations

Not so much of a random irritation as a random conundrum.
I'm after a 5 wood as my 3 wood is being binned, but which one?
My thoughts are Elyte, Qi35 or Ping G440.
Anyone out there currently using any of the above?

1st world problems, eh.

Their selling off stock.. £179 is a bargain and they are weapons I'm told

Lack of knowledge of there, they’re and their.

We used to have a tape transcriber in my last office in the police whose grasp of all things English was appalling. No clue about their, there and they’re. And how many times have you heard of a driver exceeding the “natural” speed limit, rather than the national one?

She really was awful.

New car brands that release hideous (possibly crap) cars. Jaecoo and (the worst brand name ever) Build Your Dreams spring to mind.

I’ve delivered a couple of BYD cars recently and they’re actually not that bad. But the Seal? And the Dolphin? Really?

Wonder what the residual value will be like?
Probably the same as any other EV. Considering the low retail prices, I’m not sure it matters as much as other manufacturer’s offerings.

According to some basic research, the Seal retains approx 53% residual value at 3 years and 36000 miles. Which is pretty much in line with industry.

That’s subjectivity for you. He likes his and the tech supplied. I like it as well.
£46k for a 400+bhp car in 2025 is not a “chunk of money” in a market that is only increasing in price across all sectors.

The insurance quote is bullshit of the highest order. I have been quoted from multiple insurers for both the Seal and Sealion. Clearly my mate is insured on his (incidentally for significantly less than his old Focus RS).

A Golf GTi now costs north of £42k. Lease companies use lag data so of course they won’t have residual value views.

I get it, you don’t like them (although I doubt you have seen/experienced one up close). Is it because they are Chinese?

Any BYD car I have seen has been a bland box, not familiar with the names. Saw one of those Jaecoo 7 yesterday, absolutely hideous. I am never a fan of bloated SUVs though.
Being made in China is a problem for me. I’d prefer to buy nothing from there, but as we know that is impossible.

Would take a gti over most cars. Happy to stick with my American owned, German built Fiesta ST3 for now.
Had 5 MINIs prior to that, all built in GB which was good. I hear some of them are built in China now. 😲

I agree on the Jaecoo, ugly as sin (along with Kia EV3, 5 & 9) but the Seal is a very well sculpted gran coupe style saloon not much different front end to Tesla, but with a nicer back end.

We are a global economy now, regardless of what Tangoman thinks, and China will dominate with higher and higher quality product and outputs that no one else can match.

I used the GTi purely as an example of a small, mid powered car carrying a price tag that’s far from deserved.
