Random Irritations

No water, again. Burst water main. Same place as last time and the time before. Currently 19 hours without mains water. Think that’s around 5-6 times this year.

Someone on the local community FB page has been tracking it. It’s around 70-80 hours in total. We always keep 4x8 litre bottles of water just in case, but it’s amazing how quickly it’s used up flushing toilets & washing.

Do you have water butts collecting rain water off the roof, or is that not a thing in Spain? They would be perfect for flushing toilets.

It's Ratcliffe ................................ not Radcliffe.
Come on boys, you're better than that.

Jebus thats mental. Ours is negatively affected by the high crime village 3 miles along the road.
My daughter lived on main road within a 100 yards of me a very quiet close .

When she moved back on with me the insurance co increased her premium.

It turns out the stats for accidents and cost of cover depends on where the claimants live and not where the accident occurred, so my claims have affected my daughters premium.

Why don’t the collectors pick these things up? They dropped them. 🤷🏻‍♂️

This issue was raised where I live and they came back with the simple answer - "they do not have the time and would not get round their whole route if they did this".

To me it is a case of householders need tie up the bags if that is what they are using. (we use boxes here)

They have velcro strips to secure the cover but are user and collector unfriendly. The spillage will occur between pick up and lorry when collector rips the bag open in readiness.
They collect at a fast pace and I've, many times, seen several lorries laid up together, presumably chilling before return to base.
Regardless of spillage, the streets now look awful with bins and bags scattered everywhere.

Normally, we get rain on about 10 days a year, sometimes less. A plastic water butt might last 2 years - sun + plastic = brittle plastic. And it would have to be a well sealed water butt. We lose around 2 inches of water out of the jacuzzi a week in hot weather, and that’s well covered. And it would be a fab breeding ground for the millions of giant mossies we get here.

Great idea but not in Spain.

Having Newcastle to beat Liverpool 2-1 in my Super 6 and then changing it to a Liverpool win was bad.

Then finding out every single one of the 46 others in my league had a Liverpool win really rubbed salt in the wounds.

Slightly annoying.
