2 windows, front door and roof leaking by chimney . Then neighbour came round with 5 side tiles that blown into his property and then power cut for 3 hours

We lost power the night before last for about 7 hours. Came back on at 8am, went off at 11am, back at 4pm - I got sick of resetting the clocks!

We really take electricity for granted. The amount of times I went to do something that required it...

Back in the 87 storm I found a tile on my back lawn. It was only a few years ago that I realised where it came from. It was mine but it was decorative only, to hide the flashing round the vent pipe. I spotted one house in the row that still had one in place.

Apparently there were 46,000 premises without electricity!

Drove the wife’s hockey team to a match in Haslemere today in a minibus - wasn’t great driving conditions and it’s staggering the amount of people driving like 🛎️ends in the wind and rain
Have a U15 club away match tomorrow maybe.. 30 mins drive. With all the rain, it is unlikely we will be able to play .. the opposition refuses to call it and will take a call in the morning … bonkers.
I am having an extra pint tonight

Weather during the game was fine - in the league they had the longest journey yet plenty others didn’t play

Ours was just local. Overhead line damage. They bought in a couple of generators but they kept failing. They have routed around the damage for now so I expected it to go off again last night but it didn't.

I saw an advert for a new christmas film on Netflix (I think) seemed similar to Home Alone and I can't for the life of me remember what it was called or when it was coming out. Set on an estate in the UK, comedy. It's doing my head in now.

You can still play hockey on turf.. trying to play footballl is this weather means it is going to be Glastonbury… too dangerous. But the opposition does not want to call it off but wait for inspection.
They will hope that we call it, that way it is conceded rather than rescheduled. Madness when you think that this is about 7th tier in the U15 league

Eldest was sick last Sunday morning, middle child sick this Sunday morning

Hopefully youngest holds off past Wednesday as she has a hospital appointment that day that we can't afford to miss

Make that 6pm tonight now. Eek

Flipping heck. Have they provided bottled water?

I'd take electricity over water I guess. Hopefully some community spirit and swapping of resources? We all run on oil/electricity but one guy has a gas hob and opened up his home to those needing a cuppa or to heat baby's feeds. Warms the heart.

Yes because you can use waterbutts in your toilet (some houses are plumbed that rain water is used for flushing) and then you can get bottled water or boil rain water

Electric you are stuffed without

Our battery will provide some rest bite if it has charge. We could probably get through most of one day

If that fails I can run a plug from the niro.. that can power the fridge and kettle for a long long time .. or if cold I can plug the boiler into it to power that

If everything goes I always have the gas BBQ that has a hob on it

But by then I'd be climbing the walls 😂
