Tv detectives who never call for backup when they find a suspect or discover a suspicious building, they always go in solo and subsequently end up getting pummelled 🥊

As a retired cop I absolutely scream at the TV at the way the vast majority of dramas depict my former profession.

They are almost always so far divorced from the reality that it’s frightening. Even more frightening is that so many base their opinion of the police on these programmes.

My wife watches one of the soaps - it will remain nameless but is based in the north west and much of what goes on occurs in a pub or knicker factory. I always find something else to do whilst it’s on, partly because it’s a load of old tosh, but also because its depiction of the police is so appallingly inaccurate that it sends my blood pressure through the roof.

What you mean the same 3 officers working all time and many serial killers just walking about free as a bird

There was an anniversary programme on Midsommer Murders last year. They were interviewing the lead who plays John Barnaby. He mentioned how in a poll of police officers of how realistic detective shows were on tv, Midsommer came bottom. 'I should hope so' came the guffawing reply :ROFLMAO: . At least on that show there is no pretence of reality. It must be very frustrating, even more so when people make suggestions based on tv shows.

I'm sure it's the same for every profession. As a retired IT specialist, I chuckle at how computer systems are depicted in dramas. And (albeit as a layman) I've never seen the type of chaos in A&E that is depicted weekly in shows like Casualty.

Let's just accept this is supposed to be entertainment and liberties will be taken for dramatic effect. What's genuinely disturbing is that people might actually think that's how the real world works.

It annoys me any time I see someone on TV crawling through ventilation ductwork or setting of sprinklers in an entire building.

So TUI have offered me £66 refund for not getting extra leg room seats on way home

Happy days

However onto the annoying bit

When people ask for your banks address

You do not need it to make a transfer.

We have had 2 flight times changed in the last week and one cancelled. It seems unjust that Airlines can cancel within the required period but passengers cannot.

What I had when I got back from holiday in may was pretty mild. One night of shivers and sweats then a few days of feeling lethargic and that was it.

New variant out. Lots in the hospital. Seems the virus has worked out how to deal with warmer weather. Vaccines being rolled out early.

So yep it could be!
Have done a test and it's negative so potentially just come down with a bug due to playing in the rain for 2.5 hours and lack of sleep following!

Have just enquired how I go about booking a day in lieu for the Saturday I just worked and have been told 'office staff don't get days in lieu'. Hahaha, looks like I'll be calling sick one day soon then, and don't expect me to turn up for another Saturday. 😆

The absolute fear I get everytime I need to update a system BIOS on a PC that doesn’t belong to me.

Praying that there is no power outage or I accidentally knock something and brick someone’s motherboard.
