Random Irritations

Tv reporters/journalists who seem to think they are paid by the word.
Ask the question once, slowly and clearly and then shut the hell up.
TV reporters or journalists who don't press interviewees who evade the question. Slowly an clearly, tell them that they hven't answered the question and ask if they need it to be repeated, or why they are evading the question. Particularly applies to politicions.
Oh and politicians who reply to a question with an answer that bears little or no relation to the question, but is something positive for them, that they want to broadcast.

Just leave them be, they kill other nastys you wouldnt want around. All part of a healthy ecosystem.
If they are going for the likes of strawberries, they are after sugar, so arent't in their 'kill nasties mode'. Distracting them with alternatives or disuading them with strong odours, like thyme, are better options when they are in that mode.

Why? If you hear 'England' you assume the men's team. There's no need to specify something unless it goes against the likely assumption. This is not about equality but simply about it being clear who you're talking about. If you saw a headline saying "Chelsea sack manager" you'd assume the men's team first wouldn't you?

That said, I'm not going to object to the men's team being called England men, no skin off my nose.
That's actually a really good example of gender bias that pervades out society.

There has to be some differentiation between reporting mens and women sports,

You just cant say England, as it could be Footy, Rugger or Cricket etc men or women

So England Women or England Men is OK , The Women are known as The Lionesses, so the blokes could be The Lions

No...YOU assume the men's team. I've got used to having to check links out and not be surprised if it's the other bunch. I'd be happy to see 'Lionesses' always used for Women and 'England' used for Men, simply because of historic familiarity.

I can live with Lionesses - but Matildas?? Really! Sounds like an old lady's hair salon!
Matildas was the winner of a nation wide popular vote in 1995. It wasn't the preferred name of the team at the time. Soccerlasses or another Soccersomething name, complementing Men's Socceroos name would seem better imo.
