Random Irritations

Orbit them - On some journeys where I'm in no great rush to get anywhere I'll overtake a middle lane hog, then go back into the inside lane and ease off until they overtake me again, then I'll pull across and overtake them and repeat until they realise and move into the inside lane where they should be.

Record was 4 times. Puerile but it mildly amused me for a while.
I've never tried that. I may give it a go.

This (redacted) message has been sent to all patients at our GP surgery...

Dr XXXXX is retiring at the end of September.
We have organised a leather-bound book and hope patients might like to share messages and stories and to wish him well in his retirement.
If you would prefer to send something in, we can stick this on one of the pages.
Some patients have also asked if they can contribute to his leaving present. I have set up a bank account to accommodate this Sort Code: XXXXXX - Account XXXXXXXX and of course, we are happy to receive by traditional means as well.
We have already received a few gifts for him which have been dropped off at reception.
It will be great if we can give him a memorable and lasting send off.

It doesn't help that I can't stand the guy anyway, but it seems massively unethical for the practice to be soliciting cash contributions from patients for his retirement. I'm pretty sure if anyone was desperate to donate they'd figure out how to do it without this message.

I would ask him to log on and message me at 7.30 in the morning so as I can find someone junior to assess whether his retirement is worthy of my contribution but if he has not logged on by 7.35 all of my slots for contributions will be full for the day and he will have to try again tomorrow.

If he and they had sent you birthday cards through the years I might think about it, but as they wouldn’t have done so, I think have a real neck sending that out.

Staying away from the p**tic* word, just to make everyone aware, Spain is proposing that everyone visiting from the U.K. will need an ETIAS visa. This isn't expensive and will be valid for 5?/ years. Welcome to B****t and being a 3rd world country.

From when? I fly out in 2 weeks 😂

This will be needed to visit all Schengen countries from 2024, not just Spain.
