Random Irritations

I find either examining the inside of my eyelids helps.....or people watching.
If I spend the better part of today people-watching on the London Underground I will probably add 6 pages to this thread.
Sleeping on the underground? 😱
Fortunately, I found my recently underused Kindle in the bottom of my rucksack with enough charge to last the day, so Clive Cussler will be keeping me company.

However I got bird poo on mine and it's taken paint off the roof in two places

I panicked but looking at the terms (including calling them) it's £150 max per panel for exposed metal

So that bird poo paint peel is £150

Considering I thought I had to respray the entire roof for £500 that's decent.

Same with wheels £80 each if kerbed badly

Not even worth bothering repairing them if they are

I am fanatical about removing bird poo when I see it having been informed about how bad it is for paint work.

We have a resident gull in our club car park and it loves perching on car roofs, I have a panoramic roof (what on earth decided car designers to have them but that is another matter) and whenever the gull sees itself in the reflection it lets go.

Before we moved control rooms I always got the tube to work as was central London

Headphones just to drown out the background then timer set for the rough time for changing trains

I do miss my extra hour in the morning kip 😞

Forgot to put the bins out last night…at least that which I’m stuck with for two weeks is the general rubbish one as that is only half full and so will last until next collection. Our recycling gets full and forgetting that one is a pain. Unfortunately the food waste one will be crawling with maggots come next week….🫣

Have to admit to having occasionally propped myself up against a lorry when stopped if the traffic is busy and I want to get moving again without risk of wobbling or getting clipped as I start off so don’t put feet on the ground in readiness to get going. Don‘t recall ever having felt the need to do same alongside a car but I can’t say I’ve never done it. Just simply a safety self-protection measure when traffic is busy and lanes are tight.

Pity we don’t have the Dutch and Belgian attitude of cars and cyclists.

If our bins are missed we can go on the council's website and report a missed bin collection, they'll usually come back and do it the next day or day after that.

I've had to resort to taking date and time stamped photos of when I put the bins out.... I had a couple of missed pickups and they basically told me I was lying. I live right down the end of a dead end road and I think occasionally they just didn't bother.

We had one the other week where the bin was out as normal and they just skipped us out somehow. Bizarre. As I say, I went on the website and reported a missed bin collection. It's very much just a tickbox form though, so there's not really any dialogue going on where I have to convince them it was the binman's fault or anything.

Went into the nearest town this a.m. Petrol @Asda and Tesco was 145 and 147 respectively. In our village it is 140/142 which equates to around 6/- per gallon. Remember when petrol was less 30p per gallon.

The Supermarkets were grilled the other week regarding their pricing policy

This is a real annoyance with me. Supermarkets used to be the leaders in price reduction now they are the opposite.

My head can't stop singing this now!

Now, one day while in a hurry
He missed a lady's bin
He hadn't gone but a few yards
When she chased after him
"What game do you think you're playing"
She cried right from the heart
"You missed me, am I too late?"
"No, jump up on the cart!"
