Local driving range now has Trackman installed and downloaded the app and registered . Went looking for said app thinking it starts with T and spent way too long before realising it had been downloaded with its title as Golf 🙁🤣🤣

Mrs Colch's friend, who is one of the nicest people that you could ever wish to meet, had been told that she had successfully fought breast cancer but has now been told that on her latest scan that the cancer has spread and there is a tumour on her lung that is manageable but untreatable. She's got 14 nd 16 year old kids whose lives are about to change in unimaginable ways. Why do bad things like this happen to good people?

They do…but only as they can happen to everyone and anyone. 🙁. The children are old enough to hopefully understand what it means and hence better able to cope, and of course better able to support their mum and each other, as will Mrs Colch.

My wife is a Breast Cancer Nurse and one thing my she determined when she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer was that she would not begin to consider herself ‘cured’ or having been successful in fighting it until ten years after diagnosis - after all that’s what she advises all her women. Until that point, and she’s 7 yrs on, she considers that she is not cured but only in remission.

The reason for this is simply that, statistically, recurrence or secondaries are unlikely to arise after ten years, after which any cancer is considered a new cancer and not related to the primary site, and at that point she goes back to the population statistical norm of 1:8 women developing breast cancer - and (to a degree) she can relax.

But until then, and every day, every little thing she doesn’t think quite right rings alarm bells. It’s difficult to live with, and she feels that many others don’t understand that she is not ‘back to normal’, not yet anyway…but here’s hoping.

And I hope the above does not come across in any way insensitive, but the understanding often makes it easier for others to cope with a recurrence or secondary in a loved one.
