I totally agree. It's used by right wing people as an insult, without actually knowing what it means.
""By the mid-20th century," says the Oxford English Dictionary (OED), "woke had been extended figuratively to refer to being 'aware' or 'well informed' in a political or cultural sense.""
In the above context, I am very happy to be defined as "Woke". If you're going to use a word as an insult, make sure you actually know what it means.

The language of slang moves quickly though, and although the OED explanation is still valid, today 'woke' is now best known as a negative political buzzword used to describe anything deemed too liberal or progressive.
(Also I’m a bit uncomfortable when old white men appropriate African American slang. Very cringy.)

That’s even lower down my list of things I find interesting. But now I don’t work in an office in the centre of Cambridge I don’t really interact with anyone who wants to talk about it.How about the Tour de France?
