I've always been on the fence with Tyrell but it's starting to get a bit tiresome.... beginning to cross the line to Knob City....

I’ve said it before here, but having followed Hatton a couple of times at tournaments, what you see on TV is the tip of the iceberg. His boorish behaviour can be far, far worse than that seen on TV coverage.

It amazes me when anyone seeks to excuse it, saying that “he’s a nice guy, really.” He may well be, but some of his antics are just embarrassing.

They need fines that actually hurt their pocket. Or, removal of ranking points for the current season.

As Rory holed his birdie on 18, did you see in the crowd, the one bloke with his arms crossed - obviously not happy!

The win obviously meaning a lot to Rory, and comparisons to Seve being drawn are credible. For me, Seve remains the greatest European player - but that's probably aided by his aura that he has left on the game - I'm not sure McIlroy will leave that lasting legacy in the same way.

Seve also played the majority of his career on the European Tour. Different times now but Rory being so US based is bound to lessen his impact over here.

Yeah, that's obviously a factor - although Rory is amending his schedule so he can play less in the states isn't he, that might well change the public perception of him in the coming years?

I imagined if I asked my lad "Seve or Rory", he'd pick McIlroy - he'll have a lot of appeal to the younger generations.

To be fair, why would your lad know Seve? That isn't a sleight, he is from the history books for him. The likes of Seve, Monty, Faldo etc hold reverence partly because we saw them play, in Europe, week after week. They were winning, in Europe, time and time again.

Now, all the best European players are off to the US as soon as they can as that is where the money is, no blame there, it's a no brainer. You just can't get the same affinity for them though when it's like that. McIlroy is the nearest to a UK golfing superstar that we have so younger players are bound to gravitate towards him. I don't think the affection will be the same as for those names above though (I appreciate a lot of people will not have affection for Faldo because of his nature but you get the gist of it)

I agree, the money is huge, but I think other things are a factor....
I'm sure Sheffield and Pontefract are very nice places to live but they don't quite match up to Palm springs or Jupiter Island as far as the weather is concerned. The space, the sprawling houses, the beautiful courses all year round, the outdoor living, the warm balmy evenings with some mates round for a BBQ by the pool has its attractions, especially as we hurtle towards the winter.
As you said, you can't blame them

McGreevy, who lost his PGAT card last year, had a strong season on the KFT to re-gain - last week popped over to Japan and won there.
With US pros and travelling a occasional discussion topic thought it was worth noting. Probably booked his place in the 2025 majors with the ranking bump also.
