As plus handicaps were mentioned on another thread, I thought a new thread was needed. My question is , when plus h/c amateur golfers are invited to play in major pro comps i.e. The Open.
Do they play off scratch for the amateur title, even though there might players who would normally get strokes from a lower plus h/c player. Say a plus 1 v a plus 4 ??.

Not what I meant , I was meaning a plus 1 player would be losing strokes to other lower h/c amateurs competing .Think about it, a +4 amateur plays a pro event. He is paired with Tiger in the first round, Tiger is off scratch, our amateur has to give 4 shots back to the course. Wouldn't really make sense would it![]()

I.E your plus 4 player would normally be giving the plus 1 player 3 shots in norm h/c comps. But he loses these shots in pro comps.
