I have booked myself a slot with a Ping rep. who is coming to my club on the 14th March and am really excited.

My clubs are a mixture of bargains that I have got off the internet, AG & Direct Golf. Now I am going to be fitted properly with a machine that cost £42,000 apparantly! It's not the Vector or Trackman so I wondering what the hell this is? :D

There will be six slots of 40mins which I also find a bit strange as I would have thought that you should need somewhere between 60-90mins? Escpecially as I'm going for the whole lot i.e. Driver, Woods, Irons and Putter. Hopefully they will do me a good deal if I am going for all of this, but should I go armed with the best internet prices I can find e.g. Snainton are doing the i10's for £409 etc.

I also have my Xmas package of lessons starting next week (21st Feb) starting with an on-course lesson and 2no 45min range lessons which should tweak my swing nicely in time for my custom fit. :)

Fourty minutes does seem a bit lame to be honest. I was an hour at StAndrews trying drivers alone with ping. The iron fitting process is fairly straight forward, its the shaft that needs to be right.

I would just explain to the Ping rep/fitter that you want more time to do the full shooting match. They will either give you another date or tell you to come back at the end of the day.

Ping customer service is usually top drawer stuff.

Good luck and welcome to the Ping4life clan!

They pulled the plug on selling gear online to try and reduce the number of fakes being produced. Only done it in last six months? Can only get gear from ping these days.

A lot of online companies still sell ping gear. You have to phone them rather than place the order online as such.

Don't think it had much to do with fakes. Thought it was more to do with custom fitting policies. Ping would like to see all there gear custom fitted.

Online companies state you must phone them to discuss custom fit requirments before ordering. It's still nowhere near a real custom fit though

Looks like peterpumpkineater is single handedly trying to take on the credit crunch and spend us out of recession!!!

To say I'm a little jealous of the fitting and the new kit would be a little understated!

I will be very interested to see how you get on with this mate- I have a Ping rep coming to my club on the 6th march for a driver fitting day and he is bringing a trackman plus all the options Ping have to demo so I am more than tempted. It would be great to hear a review of how successful the fitting was / how comprehensive it was.

Hope you enjoy it.
