Patrick Reed feud continues......

Yeah, Faldo is beloved by the masses :p:rolleyes:

Besides, what does it matter if someone is liked, surely a good journalist will either pick up on the past of both or neither, not pick and choose!

Yeah true, maybe not Faldo so much, but definitely the case for Phil. As I said earlier in the thread though, with the things Phil and others have done, they've come out and apologised for them and been forgiven. It humanises a person to see them make a mistake and apologise for it and make amends and that is why the likes of Phil still have huge followings and fanbases despite the mistakes they have made. Also helps in Phil's case that he's a great guy that does a lot of good things for people, he's the complete opposite personality wise of Patrick Reed.

Yet his critics desperately want him to play in the Ryder Cup.

Journalists who promote this here-say deserve as much respect as the women in history sat knitting in front of the gallows.

There are loads of sports people who are 'disliked' because their single mindedness has led to 'public' criticism because of the rumours of the personal lives.

Mo Farrow is 'rumoured' to be a not very nice person - whatever that means!! etc etc. Perhaps, (heaven forbid) we should start a list to everyone can vent their spleen.

Reed won the Masters with his considerable golf skills honed by hard word and dedication and without help from anyone - well done him.

If only Reed did some good

Going against what I wrote earlier but I would be intrigued by a proper article on Phil - can't work out if he is a decent guy or not.

You have the way press, fans and other players acclaim him now and stories of tips, donations, taking time for autographs, but in the past he was apparently disliked by pros with the nickname FIGJAM, featured in top 10 most hated sportsman article, a few deadpan comments from Vijay about it being a bit of an act, the tax scandal and I would imagine the gambling side has probably created some near misses.

He may just have grown up as a person and become a more rounded individual, or just given a bit more of a break with the articles written on him.

Reed is supposedly on medication for ADHD.

I was watching Louis Theroux's documentary last night on America's Medicated Kids. Seeing some of the behaviours of theses kids may go a long way to explaining Reeds issues growing up and consequently into adult life.

These kids get excluded from school, cannot form friendship groups, act irrationality, flout authority, get fixated on something, fall out with their parents, superiority complexes, say inappropriate things and the list goes on and on.

From reading that article in this thread and what I can see he does seem to tick quite a few of those boxes.

No rational human being goes out of their way to upset everyone they meet. This could well explain his behaviour, how he treats others and in turn how they end up treating him.

Or like this clip from the Simpsons, he might just be a jerk.

All these apologies you keep mentioning are all done to both save face and to stop further endorsements- none of them are sincere , I expect Woods is still enjoying his ladies

And what is it exactly you think Reed should publicly apologies about - he doesn’t seem to have done anything wrong were there is some sort of concrete proof

No you're right. He's squeaky clean, never done anything that has been accused of him and everyone loves him, that's why all the Tour Pros that went to College with him and played with him are leaping to his defence whenever these rumours arise.....oh wait.

Also found this this morning : https://twitter.com/GolfSpyT/status/984211775867576320 - but I'm sure these industry insiders are fictional as well. It's all a conspiracy to besmirch the name of the great Patrick Reed.

So you want him to apologise because no one likes him ( I’m guessing you asked them all )

And again someone posts more speculation on twitter - is that supposed to be concrete proof on top of all the other speculation

It is amazing that you seem to adore a guy who has been “proven” to be someone of suspect character whilst looking to crucify someone who has been subject to nothing but pure speculation and rumour

You just love talking about Tiger don't you. Difference between them is Tiger owned up to his mistakes which followed the same pattern as these Reed "rumours" where a number of people who knew him came out and told stories to the press about him. Tiger didn't ignore it in the hope it would go away though like Reed who ignores ignores ignores and hopes they disappear. The "pure speculation and rumour" is coming from two people who coached him at College and from his own family. Why would they lie? What do they get out of it? Why are there no similar lies about Harris English or Brian Harman if they're just looking for press? Not only that but if it was all lies - why have none of his former team-mates come out and defended him? Why has no-one on Tour come out and defended him if he was this great mis-understood guy? It doesn't add up.

I like Reed more and more every time I watch him.

I’ll take Reed over any poster boy all day long, love the visible drive, passion & ambition to win.

Nuff said 😜

He's like a successful version of Poulter, whom I also like for the same reasons

Brilliant, Tiger saw the light, realised he was wrong and apologised.........er NO

Only apologised after being caught out and publicly shamed and being done in court.

I’d rather move on from whispers about Reed than forgive Tiger for driving his car while drugged up, I don’t believe Reed’s suspicious actions as a teenager put his or anyone else’s life in danger.

So you expect woods is “still enjoying his ladies”
Any concrete proof on this?
Or is it just something that you choose to believe because you don’t like him?

I’m pretty sure we’d hear about it if he was 👍🏻

Woods was not overly popular before his activities, scrapes with the law and medical issues...now all of a sudden he's a saint against Reed?
At least with Reed you get the feeling that what you see is what you get, and nothing of this backstabing glad handing tosh many appear to give.
Just because on camera they seem a "nice guy" doesnt always apply in reality.

He was especially nice to me, the Mrs but more importantly my 18 month old daughter when we saw him at Birkdale last year. Made 3 lifetime fans. I’m chuffed he won the green jacket!

Do I care what his old team mates allude to? Not one iota. Simply don’t care.

Hope he wins more!

Apart from in the Ryder Cup.
