North East golfing group

Going up to Northumberland on Wednesday until Sunday . I’m taking my clubs and thinking of playing Alnwick Castle on Friday morning if anyone is at a loose end and fancies joining me ?
Ps, Doesn’t have to be Alnwick , I’m staying in Lucker near Bamburgh so anywhere with 30 mins drive .
I'm afraid I can't on Friday. Sorry

Apologies for coming back to you this late. I have to be in work on Friday morning but I can be with you late morning. Is that any good or do you want to be out early?

Thanks very much for getting back to me . Unfortunately I need to play early Friday because we have beach plans in the afternoon.. I’m sure we will be back up to Northumberland in the future , we love it . Thanks again for your kind offer , appreciated.

Just played Alnwick Castle GC on my own . I was 1st out and started with a tap
In Birdie ! Downhill from here obviously. Front 9 at AC is tough if you’ve not played it before like me , a fair few blind holes and it’s VERY hilly . Back 9 was much easier on the knees . Course was in good condition generally but greens were slow & bobbly . The lad in Proshop/ reception admitted they were poor but have improved a lot since April . They have just recruited a Head Green keeper having not had one for 2 years ! Another Northumberland course ticked off

@Skytot what did you think of the 18th? I think it's hateful 😡. It used to be a mid round hole but they sold their 18th for housing and moved the clubhouse. I really like the new clubhouse but the penalty is that you play that hole at the end.

Alnwick has always struggled a little, better players go to nearby Alnmouth, Foxton, and they've never quite had enough members or money to really get the course sharp. I'll play it once a year or so, they offer silly deals at times. It's an honest place though, no delusions of grandeur.

😂 I played it text book too be honest , good drive , good 5w , 9 iron on the green, just missed my birdie , tap in par , Great hole 😂. I wondered why my gps watch was all over the place , didn’t realise they have re-configured the course . Club house was superb , it was lovely sat on the balcony looking over he 18th drinking my coffee. Foxton is definitely on my list

We've 8 of us in Sept, on a Sunday Driver, Brass Castle for £20 Cleveland for £25 (robbing b*****) & a Travelodge single for £40 (Hmmm). £85 & just an hr 20mins from home. The NE is the new golfing Gold-Coast. Though I am looking at Preston GC's Festival week next year at a similar price. The Tom Finney Memorial Trophy would be something to get your name on!!

Is this group still going? I’m up north from tomorrow till next Friday if anyone fancies a knock?
Looks like nobody from here picked up on your post so hope you managed to sort something else. Sorry I couldn't help out as I'm just 7 days from knee replacement!
Just how far 'Up North' did you go?
