North East golfing group

@IanM I'm happy to host on Sun 18th at Seaton Carew.
Have a 4ball booked for 9:17AM if you and any two others from the thread want to make up a 4ball? Members guest rate.
Would have loved to join you but my youngest is impatient and has me car shopping in the toon 😜

It's not golf related but as you are quite north I'd recommend trying the Rocking Horse cafe. If you like cake, mmmmm https://therocky.co.uk/cafe/. Not far from you 👍

Looking at this the guy used to live near where I grew up! Fell in love with the area and moved. I can see how!

Dunstanburgh this afternoon. £35 after 2pm, can't go wrong!

That's brilliant value. I think the chill is meant to lift by then. What you are seeing now is quite common. There is a nip on the coast that lifts as the morning goes on.

The walkers at Dunstanburgh can be a bit irritating but it's worth putting up with them. Move that course up the coast to North Berwick etc and they would be charging £150 a round . Enjoy (y)

we played Hexham this morning (Seniors Open). Was pretty cold for the first hour, then the sun came out and it was glorious (as were the bacon sandwiches).

How did you get on? I played last night and the course is finally starting to perk up.
Really enjoyed it, thought the course was in pretty good nick considering the lack of rain.

As for how we played, we were pretty solid as a pair, but found the greens very tricky. We were bobbing along quite nicely until the last 2 holes when we managed a grand total of one point between us. Ended up on 34. Not going to win any prizes but won't be last either!

Highlight for me was a cracking birdie on one of the long par 4s (may have been the 8th?). Hit a long drive, was left with 160 to the pin, went about 20 yards past but managed to roll the putt in :D

Dunstanburgh for £35 after 2pm (£30 after 3pm) is madness. The holes on the top are so-so, but not bad, the rest is great fun with views to rival anywhere.

Stick the course in Fife, it'd be £150 or more

For goodness sake Shhhhh Ian…keep quiet about it😂🤪😂🤪

You played Goswick yet? I would join there like a shot if I was less than 75 mins drive away

Lots of places like that up here, anywhere else in the country and they would be triple the price. I'm pretty sure Northumberland is the best value for golf in the country. As prices keep going up everywhere I wonder how long it will be until more start venturing over this way.

🤫 hush man
They'll all start coming.....😉

I'm wondering where to play in Week 2🤣🤣

Drove into Eyemouth today, didn't look like a must play, but great views.

Foxton hall (in alnmouth) is a nice course, shouldn't be too far from you, maybe 30mins.
Well worth a game.

Alnmouth village and Warkworth, 2 decent 9 hole courses on the coast too.

Probably another dozen not too far away too...

Enjoy👍

Eyemouth is actually very enjoyable, don't underestimate it.

I'd agree on the other two suggestions, Alnmouth (Foxton) first, and Alnmouth Village if you want a more quirky links round.

Yes... excellent.... I'd go & stay to play there twice & then go home.... great place.

Played at Foxton Tuesday gone. It was in excellent condition & I had the best Cheeseburger I've ever tasted in the clubhouse afterwards. The clubhouse has just, in the last couple of weeks, been refurbished to a very high standard. Great setup.
