Never Seen Anything Like It

Back when I first started playing my regular playing partner had a bit of a temper. We used to play Ruislip Manor quite a bit and there was a hole towards the end, 15 I think that had a ditch across the fairway, I don't remember how far from the tee but easily drive-able. Anyway, my mate hits his tee shot a bit thin, never getting more than a few feet off the ground and looked like it had gone in the ditch. His response was to start smashing his 3W against the ground until the head broke off. He then snapped the shaft and chucked it in the bin. We walked down the fairway in silence and found his ball...in the middle of the fairway about 100yds past the ditch :D

I have posted on here a few times about a person I play with who has temper issues on the course. Recently he gas made an effort to calm down, until today. After hitting another bad drive on the 15th he then proceeds to snap his driver in half over his knee. Never seen anything like it.

Did he snap a provisional?

Slime.

Could be worse you could get an angry player who gets your driver out and snaps it:whistle:
Must admit in my anger once whilst playing I did a rugby tackle on my bag and rolled around on the ground, it was partly anger but also tongue in cheek but must have looked a right ****.

I use to have anger issues as a kid. Nothing as serious as club smashing but perfected the art of club throwing. I'm far better these days and having seen how ridiculous it looks I'm glad I grew out of it. NGT has me in a much calmer place even when I hit the bad ones. I played a club match against another club and one of our opponents had a ral meltdown on our fifth hole. Driver snapped as the ball flew OB and by the time we reached the green and he duffed a bunker shot, the wedge disappeared into bushes.

All a bit awkward and his partner was visibly mortified and embarrassed as were we. The three of us holed out and kind of left him to his own devices. Word must have got back to their captain as he took this bloke into the car park and gave him a right rollicking. He was very subdued at the meal after and to be honest it took a gloss of the day. They are a great club to play home and away and it's a closely contested and much anticipated fixture. Suffice to say he's not been seen at these since

There is a guy at ours that reshafts his own clubs as he snapped so many. Incredibly good golfer too although just outside cat1.

Some of the rumours of things he's done are the stuff of legend.

Here's a pic of a medal round from a comp last year.

... probably didn't want to be cut as club champs were coming up the following week :p

Guy I played with at the weekend smacked his club against his bag in disgust...a bag that contained his brand new gps range finder...that is now a very broken and useless gps range finder...oops

I had a guy do it in the society a few years ago , banged a few threw a few , i told him to either calm down or just go off with himself back to the clubhouse ,

I didn't quiet use them words , slightly more colourful . im not putting up with that when im enjoying my pastime . ar ya nuts

It certainly looks like this is not the end of the issue in the group I play with. One of our group is a bit more 'upstanding' than the others and his wife is the lady vice captain this year. Apparrently he politely let the club breaker know at the end of the round that if that happened again then that he would not be willing to accompany him on a round again and, to be honest, I agree with him. Anyway, the response to that was 'yeah, whatever' at what would have seen a prime moment to say sorry, you are right, bit OTT, won't happen again. So, it looks like the fallings out are now going to start. Luckily neither are around this weekend but still, it is like dealing with a group of schoolkids at times.

"Yeah, whatever" would automatically remove the guy's last chance for me. Strike three.
