I have gone for the quality of the course but it is not that simple a choice. The cost always comes into it but the better the course, the more I am willing to pay. I am not sure how the other factors come into it as I am unlikely to know the condition, atmosphere, quality of views etc before I turn up.

Think I was anticipating that things like word of mouth, website photography and general reputation might come into the equation on some of these things

i 've gone for the green fee option. As a club member I like to travel but the fee has to be in budget, if the course is poor I won't revisit. Visiting more expensive courses this years thanks to the county card, but still like to play for circa £25 each

For me ease of joining was the main reason, so I went for warmth of welcome as it was the nearest.

Oops I got the polls mixed up.

Quality of the course for me. The more I play some of the top courses the more I want to play others. Would love to play all the top links courses in GB & I.

The quality of the greens for me. Hit a tee shot and it doesn't really matter if it deviates a little as it runs out. Hit onto the green, or putt out and you want them to be receptive and putt true.

The quality of a course layout, I can forgive a bobbly green, some muddy areas etc if the layout and design are of top quality. I hate playing a course that has holes that are sqeezed in, poorly designed or defended by "manufactured" hazards. A course should be able to defend itself through natural design, not by having a drainage ditch at 200 yards on every other hole.

I went with the quality of the course. If it has a reputation of always being in tidy order then that would be the thing that would attract me first. After that it comes down to cost. A quality course is worth shelling out on
