Confusion as ever when playing a mixed competition yesterday. 4BBB Stableford. Any combination of mixed teams. Men off Yellows and Ladies off Reds.

Yellows - Par 72, SSS 72
Reds - Par 75, SSS 75

I've read this on England Golf and put the parameters into their guidelines and think it means there are now adjustments for either gender?

Is any mixed combination mean a man and woman?
The competition is mixed, not necessarily the combinations.

@Amanda...I trust you mean 'no adjustments', not 'now adjustments'! Nothing has changed adjustment-wise as far as I know.

Ladies play of their card/SIs; Men off theirs. If either team member scores more Stableford points, off their adjusted (90% defference from lowest) hatndicap, than the highest points by the other side, they win the hole, irrespective of what Par for the hole was. At an old club, a tough Par 3 for men was a fairly easy Par 4 for Ladies, but the SIs were appropriate - and, at least somewhat, balanced by other holes around the course.

Thanks all. It was Stableford comp rather than Matchplay.

Another question. Tomorrow is a Greensomes Medal. White and Red Tees. Again any mixed pairings. The whites are SSS 73 and Par 72. So I think the Ladies should receive 2 equalising shots prior to the 0.4 or 0.6 calculation BUT what happens to an all Female and all Male Team?

Correct Ladies should add 2 to their handicap before applying the shots to be received. Everyone should play from the same course card. Does that answer you're second question?

So the men play off their normal handicap but the red tees par and SI?

Now I think about it that does make sense...the two "extra" shots to allow for the fact the men are playing an easier course SS. Would it make more sense to reduce their shots by two or am I just confusing myself?! Actually I am really getting confused!

Probably easier to explain to others if you apply any increase/decrease against the card you are going to play from, but matters not as far as the rules are concerned.

Bit late to this but just to point out that its medal, and the men dont play from the red tees, their par or their SI!

For scoring purposes you have adjusted the individual handicaps to reflect the tees being used and all that's left now is to calculate the team handicap and deduct it from their total gross score to produce the results.

Thanks Duncan. That did finally make sense...
