Should women still get extra shots when competing in a “mixed” competition?

I had thought that whs and CR and slope rating that the handicaps would be fair for all.

Fun comp coming up, teams of 3 off yellow tees for men, red tees for women. Full course hcp but women get 2 added to their full hcp.

Thoughts anyone. Thanks

It's nothing to do with being a woman, it's down to the difference in Course Rating. It could also have gone the other way.
 
My thoughts,

Is there a difference in meaning between "course handicap" and "full course handicap".

In a competition, the correct playing handicap for the format of play should be used at all times.

What is "fun" about disadvantaging some players and advantaging others?

I assume you mean Playing Handicap as opposed to Course Handicap.
But see Rule 6.2b which applies when Multiple Tees are involved; not just mixed gender

Full course hcps being used.

A male member with 10 index is off 10 for course hcp.

A female member with 10 index is off 12 course handicap then they get an extra 2 shots, so off 14.

So Playing handicaps are being used as per 6.2b(i).
 
Neither, a team 3 club comp.

A 3 club comp could be regular stroke play or stableford. If it's neither, what is the scoring method? Matchplay? Maximum score? Par/Bogey? Something else?

If it's actually a team event, the individual sides have to have a method of scoring.
 
There are no set rules for 3 club competitions, but I think that the foundation for each player should be the course handicap for the tee they will be playing from. Whether that's 'full' or a percentage is open to debate. No reason for ladies to receive two extra shots as far as I can see. It's going back to the condescending days of 'courtesy strokes'.

Can you help us by giving the Par, Course and Slope Ratings for the respective tees.
There is a Mixed Tee Calculator on the England Golf website under Handicapping, WHS Resources, input the figures and see if it gives you the answer.
(I think Mixed Tee can also apply when men play from either the white or yellow tees in the same competition).

Generally if it is Stableford there shouldn’t be any additional shots, if it was medal there might be a par adjustment if their are different pars.
 
Stableford best 2 scores at each hole.
Then there should be no additional mixed tee adjustment, as the relative difference is already accounted for in the respective Course Handicaps.
NB: there would be an adjustment equal to the difference in Pars if scoring were regular stroke play (medal) or Maximum Score, or if it were match play.

The allowance for Best 2 of 3 is 85%.

Playing outside the rules of golf (e.g. 3-club restriction) does not justify disadvantaging one end of the field with non-standard allowances, or giving one gender extra strokes they don't need.
 
As someone who often plays in mixed competitions, this is of interest to me as I often have to explain why I am getting additional shots sometimes, as generally the women's par is greater than the men's.
The other issue in matchplay is when the pars of individual holes are different and you have to explain that in matchplay the par of the hole is irrelevant
