I just don't really get what he's done that so terrible recently.
Who said what he's done is terrible....

HRC's post is all well and good....the strange thing is that much of what Rory's saying now is the opposite of what he said in the recent documentary about him.
He said then that he got back with Holly because he realised what a big mistake it had been to split up with her - and they were living together at this point so it seemed pretty serious. He said earlier this year that they split first time because it wouldn't have been fair on her if he was going to be away for weeks at a time. Now he ditches her for a tennis player who's also away most of the time. When will they ever get to see each other!?
No one's saying he should 'change his game' for the Open...but surely a player of his calibre should be able to play a variety of different shots? He says he hits the ball high and that's not suited to links play but I bet if he had to hit e.g. a low shot under the branches of a tree on a US course, he would find a way to do it rather than chip out sideways.
In the documentary he categorically said he was committing to Europe and buying a house in Northern Ireland was evidence of that. Now he's "committing himself" to the USA and buying a house there too. Good luck to him - he's perfectly entitled to do that and as pointed out, 22-year-olds have been known to change their minds from time to time - it's just a bit unexpected after his earlier comments. It's not like he's "suddenly" realised that the weather is better over there.
I don't blame him for going to the US - that's where the big money is, after all. I do suspect that his management team have had something to do with at least some of these changes of heart...not that they've told him to do anything particularly, more that they've advised him how to make as much money as possible. Can't blame him for wanting to make a lot of money, although if cash was behind his decision to ditch his live in girlfriend shortly after getting back together with her, that would be a pretty poor way to behave, imho. I guess only Rory knows if that's the case.
Anyway I wonder if he'd let me use his practice facilities, since he's not going to be needing them as much from now on?![]()
Just wondering the influence that McIlroy's closest advisors are having on him. The break up with Holly, the link up with Wozniak, the sudden dislike of links, the preference of US courses, the significant investment in his Northern Ireland home then his decision to move America and then there was the uncharacteristic twitter outburst. Don't get me wrong Rory has a greater chance of winning tournaments stateside but it just seems as though he is being moulded to usurp Tiger, or at least go head to head with him.
He'll draw in US Irish crowds, he is now a major champion 'holding hands' with the world number one tennis player (who is conveniently part of the same management group) it all seems a little artificial to me, especially after watching his documentary. Call me cynical but it's all a little scripted for my liking. What are your thoughts?
