I don't give them any money any more and if you read my post again, I do say they're all a scam in one form or another.

I just know they helped to get me on the right path, with 2.5 stone off during 2024 and I'm not massive.

General principles from them are the best about for me - eat normal (you can have a spud!).
Best advice yet - eat a good balanced diet in moderation and won't go far wrong.

Yes, but people, like me, who haven't got a clue what that is do need help - I was just using my example, which did provide that help and it worked - 35 pounds worth of help.

But wholeheartedly agree, you have to watch these sneaky diets, clubs, guru's - they're all different and they can't all be right!

I'll never knock anyone who tries something to make themselves healthier and can only give my own experience, Weight Watchers never worked for me, wasn't committed I guess, but when I gave weight loss my all, I lost 8 stone from eating properly (when you weigh as much as I did, just small changes meant I lost loads each week) and exercising often. The turning point was when I couldn't walk up the stairs without stopping half way, for a bloke in his 20s that was pathetic.

Eat good stuff. Don't worry about cards, just not fried - potatoes are fine, just not chips. Pasta is fine, as is rice. Bread is bad. Dairy only in moderation - I'm lucky, as I don't do milk, butter, or cheese.
Just picking on one tiny point from your post, because it's something I've heard before. Bread being bad for you at fattening etc. But when I'm halfway through the working day, the only thing I really want for lunch is a sandwich. If I wasn't eating bread I don't really know what I'd eat for lunch? Are pasta pots really that much better for you? There's no way on this earth I'm eating a salad every day. (Think Tesco meal deals when you read this too, since I work in London and that's the only thing I can have for lunch without taking out a loan.)

Bread isn’t bad for you, but like anything there is different standards and quality.
I only eat sourdough now as it has the least ingredients and tastes superb toasted 😀

Wraps are better than sandwiches, try those - make your own so you get what you want in them (and cheaper)

I don't think there any sourdough options in the standard Tesco meal deal.

There are wraps, I could try those.. they just always look so small... I'm not really a 'make your own' kind of person, too much effort - and I like the excuse to go for a walk at lunch anyway.

Go the long way round and stick with sandwiches :ROFLMAO:

Just my opinion but you can eat anything you like and if you are eating less than you are burning you will lose weight, calorie deficit.
Eating certain foods can help that process though, protein, makes you feel satiated for longer for example.
If you have certain exercise goals, eating is a massive part of that, I eat between 150g and 200g of protein a day for muscle building and losing weight.
Carbs and fats I take as they come but think I’ll need a carb increase to help with my running.
It really does depend on your goals and what you want to achieve.
My biggest vice is red wine though 😂😂🙈

Exercise has dropped off to almost complete zero for me. (Golf aside but I don't really count that.) My football group is on hiatus because we don't have enough players, and that was the last thing I had. Obesity beckons.

Well, I agree!

Bread in moderation is fine, but it can be avoided, but is not convenient - the convenience kills you.

The bread isn't the issue on a meal deal, more the crap on the sandwich and the Dorito's of course 🤣

Today I had a small bowl of home made chicken soup for my lunch at my office. Usually it's whatever we had for dinner the night before. You have to commit to the preparation, or suffer the bad in pre-packed sarnies and the likes.

I am partial to a Pret butty though if out and about, which kicks the warmed up dinner idea out of the window.

I have stopped with the crisps at least, and usually go for one of the other side options, like chicken or falafels or whatever. I will try with the pastas and wraps for a while I think. I have been going for the sub rolls lately over the normal sandwiches even, so this change would probably do some good.

2 slices of bread is absolutely not going to make you fat, just don't eat the loaf.

@PJ87 mate you're doing great and have a friend who underwent the same as you, alongside me doing it the old fashioned way, so some experience.

I'm from a poor upbringing, so I eat what's in front of me, as there sometimes wasn't anything else guaranteed - I'm closing in on 60 and still scoff - it's just something that stayed with me.

I am a believer in Slimming World and although I no longer attend, I learned what was good and bad to eat - you have to remember, it's no use these slimming clubs getting you slim quick - they would lose money, so everything in moderation.

Eat good stuff. Don't worry about cards, just not fried - potatoes are fine, just not chips. Pasta is fine, as is rice. Bread is bad. Dairy only in moderation - I'm lucky, as I don't do milk, butter, or cheese.

It's alright saying eat loads of fruit and veg, but if it's never been part of your diet, it's not easy. Do try and eat both though.

No snacks, just three good, reasonably sized meals and stop when full (see my first point about not having to finish).

I'm not into all the replacement b@llocks personally. You just have to prepare and take time out to eat real food.

With good eating and the medication, you will smash it.
Cheers man, appreciate it

Getting used to such smaller portions is unreal. My body probs in crisps withdrawal lol going from so much a day to none ..

If it works for you, that's great, but I can't trust something (or give my money to them) that states that a Banana, when eaten whole is a free food, but as soon as you mash it with a fork and eat it, it becomes 'syns'. They've probably changed their tune recently due to the backlash on this example (and others) that they received.

Worked well for my wife when we got married she lost like 5 stone!

I questioned the banana thing but it was explained well. If you eat a banana the body burns calories getting it processed to what it needs. If you mash it then you have stopped the body burning calories which is why it wasn't free . Perfect sense

@Beezerk do you find you have to take your time on the shakes? I spent 40 mins and had only got 2/3s down

Tasted ok. Always does taste ok. Never the amazing claims . Aftertaste is a bit different

Except this is absolute nonsense. Ask any qualified nutritionist…but, if it works for people, then that’s the end goal really! I just don’t (personally) agree with demonising certain foods.

That’s the key isn’t it! and well done on the weight loss, 2.5 stone is not to be sniffed at at all. I’d be buzzing

I've been up and down like a yoyo for years and I still think everyone who starts a diet feels the need to lose x in too short a time. Then it just piles back on.

I started last Jan, with the support of wifey and just ate well, with treats when 'needed' and same with the odd night out on the lash.

I reached 2.5 stone off in about 10 months and allowed some naughtiness over the last couple of months. That meant I gained 5 lbs, but that's already gone, so a fixed stone goal, but over the course of the year.

My actual goal is 20lbs, which then allows a bit of a winter gorge. Happy to have a 5/6lb fluctuation.

I have also decided to be tee total this year, as for me, it's not just the ale, but the kebab after 🤣

I haven’t read all the thread, however I’ve never been overweight to the point I needed to diet.
However Diet is just the worst thing you can do, because it’s short term and almost a guarantee that you will put on weight again, if not more than before.
Go on a lifestyle you can always keep control of.
Steady state cardio is no good, plenty of info as to why.
Don’t go too serious unless you really want to be serious because it’s really hard to maintain.
Enjoy the process, that’s the key.
It takes months not days or a few weeks to see big changes.
