Losing weight/fitness thread

I haven’t read all the thread, however I’ve never been overweight to the point I needed to diet.
However Diet is just the worst thing you can do, because it’s short term and almost a guarantee that you will put on weight again, if not more than before.
Go on a lifestyle you can always keep control of.
Steady state cardio is no good, plenty of info as to why.
Don’t go too serious unless you really want to be serious because it’s really hard to maintain.
Enjoy the process, that’s the key.
It takes months not days or a few weeks to see big changes.
This is true, it’s all lifestyle, I’m an 80/20 man, and just manage it if I’ve got something on.
No point been good Monday to Friday then going off the rails at the weekend, then wondering why you’re seen no change!!

5 stone!!
She must be like a rattlesnake now 😂
Unfortunately having 3 kids since then and a thyroid issue has taken it's toil. She eats well tbh and she could just live on salads and still put on weight.

Really gets her down

Sorry, no offense meant.
My wife’s sister has the same issue, which means at the moment she can’t have children.

Enjoying my cross trainer and weight sessions on alternative days. I’m also continuing at least 10k steps a day, mainly walking the dog. YouTube has been useful in helping me improve my understanding of lifting technique. But it’s a bit of a minefield. Lots of conflicting information, even in terms of loading weight with fewer reps or lower weight but to failure.

Go to the 7-12 weight range in my opinion, you could go heavier and less, but for me personally I get a better’burn’ in that range.
Hopefully avoid injury on that rep range as well.

This is what I’ve been doing, possibly more by accident than by design. At what point do you look to incrementally increase the weight? I presume when the reps are comfortably knocked out? I need to firm my understanding of putting together sets properly. Part of me researching technique was being mindful of avoiding injury. On that note I’ve been meticulous in stretching/warming down too.

It makes interesting reading to hear the several different approach's we're taking with the same general aim (hopefully they all work) A bit like the various different golf swings we all have, all with the same general aim

I couldn't apply myself to a pre-set meal plan or follow someone elses food intake recommendations etc. I'm typically pretty black & white in life and same for losing weight

Like most of us I generally know what's bad/good to do/eat. If I do more good things than bad things I'll lose weight. But if i don't actually like some of the things that are good for me then I wont bother doing them and to offset I'll cut back even further on bad things to compensate

Spot on.

I don't buy into fasting, meal replacements etc one bit.

That said, it took me most of my adult life to realise what I should eat and I think it's simply ok when younger and we don't adjust our food as we lower our physical activity - so we get fat!

I'm up for people doing whatever they want to get weight off, but maintaining it is a simple case of eating the right food.

Just realised the emptier the office = the emptier my stomach!

I work mornings with maybe one other person in adjacent office, often distracted by thoughts of food. At lunchtime the bulk of the team come in and I don't really think about food anymore

Just watched the first half of the Glucose Goddess show on Channel 4. I think I'll buy the book as it is way too irritating. I am not having it that the woman with acne had NEVER been told there could be a link to her diet. Nor to the diabetic guy that he'd NEVER been told that glucose spikes and what he eats makes his diabetes worse.

They're either lying or not listening. Annoying, as I'm sure the programme has some good information.

I agree with what you say, some good points but nothing too new that people won't have heard before. Looking forward to next week to see if she can get the woman in the wheelchair walking again with a simple diet change :ROFLMAO:

Full lunch meal prep in action 🤣

5% mince steak chilli and a veg soup on the go. Should get 5 portions out of this. Added carrots to the base of the chilli as I don't eat enough veg plus a load of spinach along with the mixed beans. Mixed veg soup again to try get more veg in.

Bought some cottage cheese to try this omelette and cottage cheese!! Anyone tried this yet? I'm not exactly looking forward to it!
Tried the cottage cheese omelette and it's definitely going to be a breakfast I'll be having more of. Didn't really cook like an omelette but kind of kept it's shape. Can see me adding chicken sausages/bacon medallions/spinach etc to it as well as the chilli flakes I added.

What is this sorcery? Does it make cottage cheese edible? Recipe please...

My wife looked at me in disgust when I told her about it.
I'm not massively keen on cottage cheese and it does make it edible. 3 eggs, started with 2 heaped tablespoons of cottage cheese, salt, pepper, chilli flakes and a tablespoon of parmesan. Mix it altogether and chuck in a frying pan. Makes it creamy, nice and simple breakfast

Thanks. I'll give it a try although the dogs have the cottage cheese in their morning Kong so they won't be impressed!
