Dark nights and the cold weather mean I’m not getting out for golf, longer dog walks or the occasional run as much. Have increased the amount of cross trainer (eliptacle) sessions I’m doing and tried to do more weights. However this is unlikely to match what I’ve been doing over the last 6 months or so. I’ve been swimming the last couple of weeks too after enjoying on holiday in October. But my technique is awful, making it largely unenjoyable. Been invited to play 7 aside in an over 40’s league, but don’t think my ankle will take it. I need to think of some other ways of getting the exercise in.

Eating wise, still on one meal a day. Feels like we’re eating better than ever due to the weather. More casseroles, stews, roasts and homemade curries. Still having a few pints and a takeaway of a weekend.

Still got snow and ice around here but I needed to get out and run after 2 days forced rest, was like Bambi in some bits.

Thanks for this post. I didn't go out this morning due to rain and it meant my 5km a day streak was goona end at 30 days. Saw your post late morning today and it helped me get changed, stick the 12kg ruck on and head out

Jeez but the temperature was brutal, made it but got some funny looks

No PBs in this weather, just slow and steady one foot in front of the other.

Maybe take a few swimming lessons? When you get it then swimming can be a delightful exercise. Or try a pull bouy as often it's the lack of kick/weight of legs dragging that impact the stroke. Get a float to do some just kick work which will improve that and is exhausting!!

Trying to imagine the slip/slide, it must tense up the leg muscles a whole lot?
I actually managed a pretty respectable time for ruck (for me) especially since most was on sand

I swear a couple of tourists thought I was mad going out at midday

Lessons may not be a bad shout. I’ll look into it when I’m there on Sunday.

Yeah it does because I was constantly tensing my muscles to keep upright, thankfully ice wasn't everywhere.

I think I'd take 0* over 41 😰

Any chance of the recipe?
It was 200g of lean mince, 1 carrot, 1 celery stick and half an onion ( I used two celery sticks and more onion) Fry those off together. Then add in a tin of tomatoes, 1 tbsp tomato puree, 1 tbsp of Italian herbs, some garlic, 600 ml of chicken stock, 200 ml of milk ( I used skimmed) I brought it all up to the boil and then broke in 4 lasagne sheets then reduced it to a simmer and cooked it until the pasta was soft. It also heated up well the next day.

Their recipe added parmesan as well and I think some mozzarella at the end to serve but I didn't. I will make it again.

I'm going to look for a recipe for a chilli soup as have had that in the past.

Another month of weight sessions, trying to drink less and eat more healthy and I've put a bit of weight on!! A tiny amount. So demoralising! BUT I feel loads better and can see/feel the difference so I'm ok with that.

My weight sessions are longer and heavier now so really seeing progress there. I'm just going to ignore the scales and concentrate, again, on how my body is changing.

Got a month left on this free plan and going to try use it gain as much knowledge as possible to carry on myself going forward.

Definitely recommend ignoring the scales (or cutting back) and focusing more on your loose clothes

I make a bean chilli that I guess you could add more stock and shredded chicken in at the end. Simple chilli mix really with onions, peppers, tomato, spices, couple of tins of decent mixed beans/taco beans. Could add 5% mince too I guess with extra beef stock?

2yrs ago I shifted 4 stone doing weight watchers. It actually was not that hard and I ate lots of good things developed my curries and pasta sauces.
But I have managed to get back 2.5 stone. We have been a bit flat out and just been grabbing the wrong things and I have paid the price.
The other thing that knocked me off track was weight watchers changed their diets .. I was extremely happy with mine, it worked.
So now I am back on something a similar diet, but it does need to have a bit of activity and I have not got to the course due to light, work, and family.
So it’s a bit slow !
The tough part is my son doesn’t gain weight and nor does my wife ( we have to give her high calories at the moment) so they can eat all these things..
