Dark nights and the cold weather mean I’m not getting out for golf, longer dog walks or the occasional run as much. Have increased the amount of cross trainer (eliptacle) sessions I’m doing and tried to do more weights. However this is unlikely to match what I’ve been doing over the last 6 months or so. I’ve been swimming the last couple of weeks too after enjoying on holiday in October. But my technique is awful, making it largely unenjoyable. Been invited to play 7 aside in an over 40’s league, but don’t think my ankle will take it. I need to think of some other ways of getting the exercise in.

Eating wise, still on one meal a day. Feels like we’re eating better than ever due to the weather. More casseroles, stews, roasts and homemade curries. Still having a few pints and a takeaway of a weekend.

Still got snow and ice around here but I needed to get out and run after 2 days forced rest, was like Bambi in some bits.

Thanks for this post. I didn't go out this morning due to rain and it meant my 5km a day streak was goona end at 30 days. Saw your post late morning today and it helped me get changed, stick the 12kg ruck on and head out

Jeez but the temperature was brutal, made it but got some funny looks

No PBs in this weather, just slow and steady one foot in front of the other.

Maybe take a few swimming lessons? When you get it then swimming can be a delightful exercise. Or try a pull bouy as often it's the lack of kick/weight of legs dragging that impact the stroke. Get a float to do some just kick work which will improve that and is exhausting!!

Trying to imagine the slip/slide, it must tense up the leg muscles a whole lot?
I actually managed a pretty respectable time for ruck (for me) especially since most was on sand

I swear a couple of tourists thought I was mad going out at midday

Lessons may not be a bad shout. I’ll look into it when I’m there on Sunday.

Yeah it does because I was constantly tensing my muscles to keep upright, thankfully ice wasn't everywhere.

I think I'd take 0* over 41 😰
